Fill the mines with water.
We need some coal though. To make steel.

OK, you haven't shown a connection between giving breaks to coal companies with the issue of carbon emissions from closed mines.rainbow wrote: ↑Wed Aug 11, 2021 1:06 pmThings are not always that simple.L'Emmerdeur wrote: ↑Wed Aug 11, 2021 6:49 am
Yet Biden’s Interior Department did just that, quietly approving Arch Resource’s request for royalty relief at two of its coal mines, West Elk in Colorado and Coal Creek in Wyoming, as E&E News first reported last week.
If the mines shut down, they don't become carbon neutral.
...a major source of the green house gas, methane is from abandoned coal mines.
Then there is the issue of polluted mine water from closed mines.

The water reacts with the timber props underground, forms methane - so no.

In your Capturelist system, the owners of the mine declare bankruptcy and walk away leaving the state to pick up the clean up bill.L'Emmerdeur wrote: ↑Wed Aug 11, 2021 4:27 pmOK, you haven't shown a connection between giving breaks to coal companies with the issue of carbon emissions from closed mines.

Good point and we shouldn't worry about burning coal cause of forest fires.

Re: All Things Biden: Is It Over Yet?
So the government should continue to subsidise coal mining companies to forestall the eventuality of the mines closing? It's questionable whether that's a better policy than eliminating the subsidy and moving on from there. That is about what Biden said that he would do.rainbow wrote: ↑Wed Aug 11, 2021 6:30 pmIn your Capturelist system, the owners of the mine declare bankruptcy and walk away leaving the state to pick up the clean up bill.L'Emmerdeur wrote: ↑Wed Aug 11, 2021 4:27 pmOK, you haven't shown a connection between giving breaks to coal companies with the issue of carbon emissions from closed mines.
Your post intrigued me so I did some looking around. Not far from one of the mines mentioned in the article, an abandoned mine is being used as a source for methane, producing power. I assume that the power plant in turn produces CO2, but that could be dealt with, and in any case it produces a smaller carbon footprint than just allowing the methane to escape into the atmosphere. If the government should be subsidising anything, perhaps it should be similar operations.
In any case, continuing a subsidy supporting atmospheric CO2 that Biden had run on eliminating is, while unsurprising, still irksome to me.

Nope that is not what I said and it doesn't follow from what I said. Firstly it should make the mining companies pay for post closure cleanup. Instead the company can declare insolvency and walk away. It is the Capitalist way. Get the State to cover your losses, but never to touch your profits. The fact is it has been working that way for many years, and there are thousands of polluting abandoned mines in the US.Your post intrigued me so I did some looking around. ...so no you can't stop subsidies overnight and have no consequences.
The subsidies should NEVER have been there EVER.
I hope I've clarified the point?

Yes, thank you. I failed to comprehend the meaning behind your original laconic response.

No need to wait! You can see the video yourself. In it, he talks about losing laptops, worries of bribery, and whoring with whores.pErvinalia wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 12:33 amAny day now...Cunt wrote: ↑Thu Aug 12, 2021 10:55 pmSo Shapiro had much merriment reviewing the latest (3rd?) Or you can ignore it, since he isn't a Trump, or the president.
Though he IS the smartest man Biden knows lol
