"Obese people should eat less, says Tory peer

Obesity is the worst epidemic to affect the UK for 100 years and the only solution is for people to eat less, a former surgeon has said.

Conservative peer Lord McColl of Dulwich said politicians refused to admit that the cause of obesity was over-eating and claimed ministers were "misleading" people by suggesting it could be tackled through exercise.

..."

Obese people should certainly eat less.

The only solution?

Who is saying that exercise is the only answer

As we grow fatter, there does seem to be this idea that either it's not our fault (victim mentality) or that being fat is actually okay (since fat is the new normal). The solution seems simple, and it's not a one-thing-or-the-other approach. Eat less. Eat better. Exercise more.
We, at least here in the U.S., each much larger portions than we need. We also eat too much meat in proportion to the rest of our diet. We eat too much unhealthy and processed foods. And we get too little exercise. This is just common sense, isn't it?
People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.

But those letters are not silent.

They're just waiting their turn.

Low(er) carbs, less than 2000 calories a day, moderate exercise.

We're supposed to be hunting and gathering, chasing our food down is great exercise!

A preschool girl was told her homemade meal wasn't healthy enough so a school cafeteria monitor made her eat chicken nuggets instead.
What could be less healthy than chicken nuggets? A turkey and cheese sandwich on whole wheat bread with a side of a banana, potato chips, and apple juice.
'What got me so mad is, number one, don’t tell my kid I’m not packing her lunch box properly,' the mother from North Carolina, who wished to remain anonymous, told a local newspaper.

That's right! Ban McDonalds but force students to eat fried chicken nuggets instead of turkey sandwiches.

Sounds like a overblown story from one single cafeteria monitor's overzealousness.

Quite possibly. Emblematic, though, of the problem at hand.

If they forced her to take the cafeteria provided chicken nuggets, did they force her to pay for them too?
