Re: Dawkins on Alien Rubbish
Knowing the ambiguity, Dawkins could just have said "alien to science".Gawdzilla wrote:...and so do ours!Pappa wrote:Great mind think alike.Gawdzilla wrote:http://www.rationalia.com/forum/viewtop ... ad#p997255Pappa wrote:I took it as "alien to science".Exi5tentialist wrote:"Alien" is a choice of words that Dawkins deliberately uses because of its ambiguous meaning. Let's face it, Dawkins isn't stupid. Islamophobia has become a substitute for racism in our politically correct times, and Dawkins will squeeze every gram of advantage out of such an ambiguity in order to raise his profile.

Well that's why islam works so well.borealis wrote:Getting a heart attack while having sex with three young models?Crumple wrote:he isn't getting any younger, what better way to leave the show?
But seriously. I'd rather see him dying natural way than being murdered. Even when it might not make any difference to him, it might scare others from criticizing islam.
Instil fear in your critics.
It's a bit early for godwin's law but that's how the brownshirts got such a foothold -intimidate any critics off the board.
Same with exi5 - use your intelelectulal might to intimidate critics.
If you can intimidate your immediate circle into submission, it's easy to fall into the trap of self-belief.
Religion 101."look at me no-one is succesful at critisizing me, therefore I'm correct".
I have a well balanced personality. I've got chips on both shoulders

Re: Dawkins on Alien Rubbish
There is, of course, a meaning of the word 'alien' other than just 'foreign'. That is 'not of the planet' - i.e. non-human. Given the way that he likes to describe women wearing a niqab as 'bin liners', again dehumanising them to the status of rubbish, I think his latest outburst is entirely consistent with his broadly western-supremacist politics. I'm not surprised you think he has a point.Gawdzilla wrote:So, you don't think he has a point?Exi5tentialist wrote:Knowing the ambiguity, Dawkins could just have said "alien to science".

And such a stupid law it is. Godwin's is a way to toss your hands in the air and say, "This thread is over." It's a way to bail out and blame the other person for one's own failure.Exi5tentialist wrote:Godwin's Law! So predictable!colubridae wrote:that's how the brownshirts got such a foothold

I didn't know that! I'll have to read me some history some day. Maybe von Papen's memoirs for a starter?Exi5tentialist wrote:This is how Nazi Germany started.Gawdzilla wrote: And such a stupid law it is. No, you were talking about your agenda regarding Dawkins.Exi5tentialist wrote:Strangely enough, I was talking about DawkinsGawdzilla wrote:Strangely enough, I thought this thread was about Dawkins.Exi5tentialist wrote:Don't you think I have a point, though?
