Post by Tero » Fri Sep 30, 2011 1:09 pm

It is both religious and political. Tea party gave it a boost.

Denialism? A fad? No way! :nono: :lalalala:

There is no universal scientific consensus that denialism is a fad and there is no solid proof that denialism is a fad. How dare you make these assertions, you should be more skeptical about things. :puppet:

Denialism is not even in the dictionary! It is therefore new, and a fad!

Back on topic, the Evol people have a whole channel

could be you can hire speakers there. If you need one for your skeptic convention.

No, comments are welcome, even comedy. I just used random smileys.

Plus the video was way too long. It was a nice speech to a dinner crowd but on video, 20 minutes would have covered it.

Sample denialist:
Us Creationists
We still got those questions, that nobody would answer.

Evolution. Is it a scientific theory, one that's based on empirical data?

1) Eyes. We're told they "evolved". Are there any experiments or observations that show the eye "evolving"? Or is it just speculation?

2) Multi-celled organisms. We're told they "evolved" from single cell ones. Is this based on real experiments and observations that show multi cell organisms evolving? Or is it like the Easter bunny?

3) The first cell. We're told it "evolved" from RNA life. Are there any experiments or observations that show how the first cell evolved from that RNA life? Or did a Federal Judge say that's what happened?

4.) The first life. We're told it came from chemical reactions. In a warm pond, or hydrothermal vents, or astroids, or some such place.
Now Pastuer, he figured "Life only comes from life", so he must of been wrong. You got any scientific stuff to show he's wrong? Or is empirical data a 20th century sexist and racist cultural construct? Nowadays, is science whatever makes Atheists feel good?

Us Creationists, beleive you me, we're laughing cause nobody's got any of this here data. I mean, all those top guru peer reviewed scientific egos. Nothing. What a howl.
reply, not mine:
If Americans came from Europe, why are there still Europeans?

As soon as you achieve even a slight majority supporting one view, the rest are denialists right?
So atheists are god denialists. Just like evolution denialists. Silly people. She's right. Atheism is a fad.
While there is a market for shit, there will be assholes to supply it.

Of course there is a God, but he is invisible, and only lives inside people's heads. That is why we must overpopulate the planet, as animals cannot keep God in their little brains. If we all die, the God is finally dead.

Denying evolution is hardly new - remember the Scopes monkey trial.

Well, the Tea Party people are good at denying pretty much everything. Sarah Palin did not have sex with Todd's snow mobile business partner. There is unlimited energy and land so we do not need to control population. Etc.

Denialism of facts established by modern science has definitely been around for a long time. Galileo can probably elaborate on this point.
