You have to be able to distinguish noun and verb. Stuff people forget after high school.

Why is that confusing?

I effected (action) a change in the system which affected (emotion) many of the account holders. Various effects (actions), including an extremely angry affect (emotion) were caused.
Except you got that bit wrong, and the first "effected" means "to bring about".
Right. "To bring about" is an action. As for the emotion, how do you know they weren't upset by it?

Affected there means changed. Even if they were upset by it, the verb wouldn't be describing an emotional state as affect only describes an emotional state when used as a noun.

Sorry, but that logic has no affect on me, no matter how effective you think it must be.
