Voika the Soldier Bear. He was in a documentary i saw on the Military Channel about a year ago. I didn't remember his name (had to Google it) but I think they showed a statue to him there.
Which reminds me, the Military Channel does have a few awesome programs. They had a multipart series of Hew Strachan's book "The First World War". It's one of the finest books and series I've ever read/watched on that war and puts much of the 20th century to today in better perspective. If you get a chance, watch it in reruns. Fantastic!

My prof, Rand Roberts of Purdue, used some of it for his WWI class. The class was mixed undergrads and grad students, 500 level.
