This is not directed to you personally, but it seems to me that the only people who would harp on about freedom would be those with a slave mentality since they would be aware of the difference. Those who have any kind of freedoms often take them for granted and devalue them, or worse are under the delusion that they are entitled to it, as if some magic wizard bestowed it upon them. Usually though it would be the slave masters trying to convince others that freedom is overrated.

I have to say though, the peasantry are more concerned about living in some kind of happy clappy playground than they are their civil liberties, which is why they are bombarded with the increasingly sophisticated prolefeed of The Spectacle.

I could say the only people who think freedom trumps all have never been hungry or been lacking accomodation/health care. Yes freedom can be nice (or disasterous) but its irrelevant unless you have food on the table and medical treatment as needed.

Most people in prisons or in oppressive regimes do not commit suicide they adapt, its only when death is going to happen if you fight or not than most people starting taking up arms.

Freedom is a luxury, its a nice luxury but you can live without it and if it every gets in the way of ensuring that people get decent healthcare or food that its the freedom that has to be compromised not the more basic neccessities

They offer their SERVICES and we can choose to vote for them, or not.

And they can choose to ignore you and your vote, and because you've allowed them to disarm you, and because you have no right to keep and bear arms anymore, you can do nothing about it if they choose to institute a tyranny. That makes you a slave.

Actually, my "pop-guns" are the same guns that our military uses, and you grossly underestimate the power of an insurgency. Evidently it's escaped your notice that digging an insurgency out of a civilian population that supports it without obliterating everyone and destroying infrastructure is incredibly difficult.

Do you really think that, should a tyrant come to illegitimate power in the United States and abrogate the Constitution, that our military would serve the tyrant and not the people? You're a fool if you do, because our military swears its allegiance to the Constitution of the United States, not to the Commander in Chief, no matter who he or she is.

That's precisely why we have a small standing army and a large reserve force that is controlled by the states. The Founders were well aware of the threat of a large standing federal army, and they created the militia/national guard/state guard system precisely because they knew that a state militia commander would simply refuse to march his troops to another state at the behest of the President if the cause was not just.
