Ooh. I keep meaning to read that. But there's always so much ahead of it. A classic though,

If the dratted kid had gone to sleep already, I would be reading "Arrow"... *harumph*
"The internet is made of people. People matter. This includes you. Stop trying to sell everything about yourself to everyone. Don’t just hammer away and repeat and talk at people—talk TO people. It’s organic. Make stuff for the internet that matters to you, even if it seems stupid. Do it because it’s good and feels important. Put up more cat pictures. Make more songs. Show your doodles. Give things away and take things that are free." -

Well I started Dawkins' The Blind Watchmaker, got two chapters in before I'd had enough of his waffling, not helped by the fact that in my head I was reading it in his voice..
Have tossed it aside for the time being and started Moll Flanders instead.

I... what's the complete opposite of 'concurr'?
The Blind Watchmaker is the best book I've read this year. And why would you want to read a book written by a cartoon anyway?

Oh Ani
I found The Blind Watchmaker fucking infuriating. I know what you mean by complex, I don't need a fucking chapter, or near enough, on it! And don't tell me what you covered in the last chapter and will be covering in the next, it's a book, not an American fucking tv fucking series. It's not necessary to draw simple ideas out in long-winded explanations over several pages, it gets boring.
I'm sure I'll pick it up again, partly read books annoy me. Hopefully the rest of the book isn't as tiresome.

I don't get you. I couldn't put it down. I went out and bought it's companion,
Climbing Mount Improbable, to read on holiday

Yeah, one of his better books. Although I have to agree his voice does grate a little.

When The Selfish Gene first came out, I can remember deciding not to read it on the basis of the title alone. Of course, I had no idea who Richard Dawkins was, but I can remember thinking that to read into a gene what is after all a human moral construct is to presuppose a conceptual inaccuracy right at the outset. The same quality of inaccuracy characterises every single thing I have ever heard or read from Richard Dawkins since. His work is invariably filled with inaccuracies resulting mainly from a reductionist approach to whatever subject he is talking about. It is fortunate for him that in science he found a field of human endeavour that could readily tolerate his tunnel vision, he would probably have been swamped by anything requiring broader thinking.
The Blind Watchmaker and Climbing Mount Improbable both suffer from the same problem as The Selfish Gene. From the titles alone, I can tell they are probably very annoying and long-winded books.
