Just for emphasis I will repeat that you would know all of this if you had reviewed Real Climate. You have not made a single point that has not been long dismissed by the scientific community, with evidence to support the dismissal.

Re: New NASA Data Blow Gaping Hole In Global Warming Alarmis
The weather analogue is perfectly valid.
You can't claim that nothing is too difficult to model, without explaining why we can't model weather accurately.
Falling back on the movement of planets is plain silly. Some things are easier than others.
Planets are easier than weather.
Apparently.
What makes climate so easy? And isn't it great that you can't disprove the models without waiting fifty years? I'm looking at the last ten years, and the record of climate modelling forecasts stinks.
( except where they've gone back over it, and changed it ).

Where have I heard that before?
Oh yes, whenever the facts are uncomfortable.
You say that everything can be modelled. But ignore the limitations of successfully modelling the weather.
That's a bit obsessive.

Weather is chaotic, climate not so much.mistermack » wrote:The weather analogue is perfectly valid.

I haven't a clue what temperature it will be here in three weeks from today - nobody does. It could easily be plus or minus 5 degrees from what it is now. But I can be pretty damn certain that the winter here will average 10 - 15 degrees colder than the summer.
[Disclaimer - if this is comes across like I think I know what I'm talking about, I want to make it clear that I don't. I'm just trying to get my thoughts down]

OK, just for grins: weather doesn't have edges; climate does. The top and bottom of the atmosphere, or (if you're using a GCM) the top of the atmosphere and bottom of the ocean.

Ooohhh, that's gotta hurt.

In a way that's true. Climate does repeat cycles. But the next cycle is an ice age.Psychoserenity » wrote:Weather is chaotic, climate not so much.mistermack » wrote:The weather analogue is perfectly valid.

And we have no historical cycles to study the effect of artificially raised CO2.
Just guesswork.

Yes it is. Because it's claimed that warming will follow it. Not that IT followed warming.Schneibster » wrote:That would be because teh "artificial" CO2 is teh speshul?mistermack » wrote:And we have no historical cycles to study the effect of artificially raised CO2.

Schneib - you do not seem to be getting your blood pressure up, but just in case, considering your heart and everything, would you take a look at also these threads before you decide whether to continue arguing with mistermack, please? I would hate to lose you too soon, and for such a reason...

There are links to six or seven different articles there, every one of them debunking the "CO2 lags warming" myth. Enjoy.
They have a wiki.

Thanks; I'd seen the first one, but I didn't know it is a biology crank as well.Ronja » wrote:Schneib - you do not seem to be getting your blood pressure up, but just in case, considering your heart and everything, would you take a look at also these threads before you decide whether to continue arguing with mistermack, please? I'm beating it over the head with the Real Climate wiki, which I haven't had time to use much yet. Good practice.

Sorry mistermack, it's my fault really - I once again forgot that talking to you about anything remotely scientific is a complete waste of time. I must remind myself that your first thread here was your own bizarre interpretation of relativity and you are not to be taken seriously.mistermack wrote:In a way that's true. I've read all that. People tap dancing round the inconvenient truths. I've had plenty of wiki.Schneibster » wrote:Thorough debunking of the "CO2 lags warming" lie: http://www.realclimate.org/wiki/index.p ... 2C_it_lagsmistermack » wrote:Yes it is. You are a crank.
You seem to think that only cranks can oppose the view that GW is A ?
Like I've pointed out many many many times, the IPCC only claims 90% probability that GW is A.
Are they ten percent crank?
Anyway, I don't want the argument to get heated. Why is that? It means fuck-all really. I'll be long dead before they find out for sure, as will most people alive today.
And climate control will probably come in at some stage.
