No, it's marvin the paranoid android.
He would be very depressed at being compared to a Honda.
Actually he comes out quite well; teaching a robot to be paranoid is
much harder than teaching one to walk.

The human body is amazingly resilient.
Everybody likes otters, pretty much.
Capybara's are better though.
I have trouble imagining a cute cuddly capybara, or for that matter a cute cuddly tapir. Also there are none in Monterey. I'm sure however if you take some pictures they'll look nice on here; you can put them on my thread if you can't find anyplace else.

I got to meet Amazonian otters once. We tied up to the bank and they arrived about five minutes after the tour operator started slicing up bananas. They were very respectful and not aggressive at all. They weren't hungry, they were just there for treats. Having about a half ton of wild otter running around on deck was a trip. (The operator said he'd learned the first time to make sure all below decks access were tightly secured before starting the goodies.)

Expanding our world views, maybe? Marvin sure does give a novel twist to the slogan "Your plastic pal who's
fun to be with."

"The internet is made of people. People matter. This includes you. Stop trying to sell everything about yourself to everyone. Don’t just hammer away and repeat and talk at people—talk TO people. It’s organic. Make stuff for the internet that matters to you, even if it seems stupid. Do it because it’s good and feels important. Put up more cat pictures. Make more songs. Show your doodles. Give things away and take things that are free." -

Thanks, Rachel, did that.
Welcome, person whose username it will take me forever to learn to spell (I've got a bit of a problem with spelling, no other reason).

Just use "Schneib." And you know that mnemonic about "
i before e except after c?" Nope. Other way 'round. Not only am I always late, I'm occasionally backwards. But never short.

I did a bit of homework before I just jumped in. This place at minimum has a crowd of folks I will like. It's so disappointing to waste months chatting folks up only to find out a bad apple is spoiling the barrel. I guess I'd rather get kicked out and/or reviled right from the get-go than waste my time. And conversely, it's best to put your best foot forward; beginnings are delicate times.

I saw some at a zoo... San Diego? Seattle? They looked alarming, mostly because they're so big. But they're very social. And quite cute about it, too. Sea otter socialization is much more limited.

Very, the freshwater lot live in colonies with much more structure than the ones I saw in California.

We recently had an exhibit at the Monterey Bay Aquarium with a bunch of different kinds of otters in it; I don't recall if that was where I saw them. But I certainly did notice that the riverine varieties were much more sociable, and the common US river otters at the Seattle Aquarium were too. And I do recall the Amazon ones I saw as being notably social even for such a social kind.
The kept sea otters in the Monterey Bay Aquarium's main otter exhibit are somewhat more social than the ones I see in the wild around the bay when I go out with my soul-stealer.

Close quarters will do that to animals. The ones that can get along stay in the aquariums, the others are shipped off or released. Or worse.

Actually the laws here are very restrictive; "worse" is a felony here, ten thousand simoleons and five years, with an additional proviso that if you were in a boat, the government takes it, and if you had a trailer for it, they take that and your car too. No kidding. They can only be put down after a consultation with the wildlife folks. By "here" I mean California. Though they may not entirely have managed to gut the Marine Mammals Act, which is national in the US.
