Also, I can't wash my hands. It's driving me crazy. I never realized before, but it appears as if I'm a compulsive hand washer

Re: Impending Doom of the Week (East Coast USA edition)
Lots of power outages in the area, one or more tornadoes overnight in the southern half of the state that damaged property but apparently didn't hurt anybody, flooding along creeks/rivers/low-lying areas (but again so far no reports of injury.. that will happen when the morons get back on the roads and try to drive down flooded roads). Stopped raining a couple of hours ago; still getting some high winds but nothing a person couldn't walk around in.
Who needs a signature anyway?

Re: Impending Doom of the Week (East Coast USA edition)
I watched a guy going down a flooded road once. He had his teenage son walking in front of him to check for sink holes. At one point the son just disappeared and the father was straining to see him over the hood of the car, but for some reason he didn't stop. He drove into the same sink hole that swallowed the kid. We motored over there in our boat, half expecting to see the car pinning the kid underwater. Luckily the kid was smart enough to kick sideways when he went in and avoided Dad's big ass torpedo.
After we fished the father out he said "They should put of signs!" We pointed out that he had moved a barricade to get to that point, but he was still fuming when his wife came to pick them up. We then went back to drinking beers and waiting for the next moron to come along.

24/7 news cycle. If it's a slow news day. Inflate something mediocre. If one of your competitors starts over-inflating something mediocre, one up them. If it should never have been on the news to begin with, it leads. If it's really important, ignore it.Rum wrote:Seems to have been a bit of a damp squib - well compared to how it was billed!

Could've been worse. This happened to a house two streets over from me:
It might look like my kids did this, and that would be a fair guess, but it was the hurricane. The tree smashed the house's elevated deck.

Re: Impending Doom of the Week (East Coast USA edition)
Typhoon Wanda in 1962 - I was 12. We lived in a bungalow and a tree came through my parents' bedroom roof and landed smack on their bed. I had heard a loud bang five minutes earlier and gort them out of bed to see to it - it was a window blowing out in the living room. We spent the night huddled in the corner of my bedroom. I was quite excited! It didn't occur to me until later that the bang I heard may well have saved their lives!
Here's a bit of what it did.

Re: Impending Doom of the Week (East Coast USA edition)
What a colossal disappointment. I was hoping for some excitement here. Not too much excitement mind you. Don't want to see anyone hurt. But something interesting to look at at least. I missed the tornado a few weeks back, completely oblivious as I played video games with the shades drawn. This time I made sure to open up the shades, but...nothing of interest going on outside.
At least the water is turned back on. I flushed the toilet and washed my hands.

People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.
But those letters are not silent.
They're just waiting their turn.

Power went out at 3 am. Was out until 10 last night. I pretty much spent the whole day in bed - there's nothing to do with no power. That's why I'm up so early.
