Airports are placed all along the coast. The dumbest place for air ports and nuclear reactors. Cleveland and Detroit are too far to handle the traffic. Somewhere between, an Atlanta size airport would be good. High speed rail to it. Obama will pay. Stimulus.

I rode out a hurricane in Puerto Rico once. During one flash of lightning I noted three separate tornadoes working in the harbor. "exciting".

We're right on the edge of the tropical storm warning here - about 100 miles inland.

Updates, peeps!

It's raining and breezy. I went for a walk in the rain earlier. The real fun won't start until tonight.

The neighbors on either side of me still have all their patio furniture out on their back decks. One of them has at least stacked them together, but that just means an airbourne stack of chairs will be crashing through my windows instead of several individual pieces.

Since there's a real possibility of non-trivial power outages, we're trying to use up some of the stuff in the fridge/freezer... so anyone who stops by to visit in the next half hour can help themselves to some sage sausage and an omelette.

Category 1, raining in Manhattan already.

Lower Manhattan, Staten Is., etc., evacuated. Luckily, we're 1 block away from the highest point on the island. Unluckily, we have a basement apartment, so I'm a little worried about water coming in.
