You're inciting earthquakes now?Seth wrote:Fucking piss-ant pussy of an earthquake. 5.8? Kiss my ass, Earth. When we needed a 10.0 in Washington all we can get is a fucking 5.8! Shit!
Goddamit, this would have been the very BEST thing to happen to Washington since the White House was burned and sacked in the Civil war.
The only way it could have been better is if Congress had been in session and the President had been speaking before a joint session when the entire dome of the Capitol collapsed on the whole sorry lot. Tom Clancy and his 747 be damned, a 10.0 would have fixed the problems in Washington for at least a decade or two.
Fuck, what a waste of geological energy!

On the contrary. This geological phenomenon near DC is now being referred to as Obama's Fault.Seth wrote: Well, at least there's nobody to blame with an earthquake, right?

That was a huge earthquake, for such an area.
The North American plate extends out to halfway across the Atlantic, and to California in the other direction, so you wouldn't expect much in the way of stress in Washington.

Virginia Quake Raises More Questions about U.S. East Coast Infrastructure
The U.S. East Coast endures far fewer temblors than the West Coast, but damage to dams on the "right coast" could be significant given the older architecture
From SciAm.

Build nuclear stations below the old dams.
That way, if there's an earthquake, the flood will put the fires out, and the floodwater should be nice and warm for bathing.

In 2008 when there was 4.3 richter (the largest since 1986) earthquake in Skåne (Sweden), they made a facebook group for earthquake survivors. I wonder if it still exists. The Scanians seemed to be really thrilled about the whole thing
