The Pope was forced to cut short an anti-gay speech when a severe thunderstorm hit Madrid on Saturday night.
According to reports by Agence France-Presse, strong winds and sheets of rain hit the air base where Pope Benedict XVI was speaking, blowing off his skullcap and shaking the stage.
1.5 million people had gathered to listen to the pope’s speech in which he proclaimed that marriage is a union solely between a man and a woman.
Before his speech was cut short, the pope said: “The Lord calls many people to marriage, in which a man and a woman, in becoming one flesh, find fulfillment in a profound life of communion,”
Hundreds of gay and lesbian Spaniards had planned a major kiss-in protest against the head of the Roman Catholic church, but were foiled by police. However it is reported at least one couple managed to kiss in front of the pope’s vehicle.

What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."
