Severe weather warning issued for London
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) has said it is on stand-by to help anyone hit by flooding after heavy rain was predicted for the capital.
The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning, with torrential, thundery rain predicted from around midnight through to about dawn.
The Environment Agency has said there is a low risk of surface-water flooding in south-eastern England.
The LFB said it had readied its specialist flood response kits.
A spokesman for the Met Office said: "The heavy rain will start from about midnight and there will also be a lot of lightning.....
