What happened to the 70s? So much promise. And yet by the end of the decade everything had turned to shit, at least for progressive rock. While it lasted, though...holy shit what an exciting time. Fuck the 60s. I'll take the 70s again any day, with bands like Emerson Lake and Palmer, Electric Light Orchestra, Yes, Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Moody Blues. Those were the fucking days, my god.

People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.

But those letters are not silent.

They're just waiting their turn.

That's what I'm talking about.

Is it just nostalgia, or does this type of musical virtuosity not exist in today's music?
For someone like me who favors this type of progressive rock, what more modern bands might someone recommend? :ask:

Yes there are bands with chops but the songs are more crap, see Muse.

My kids like Blink 182, wheezer, death cab for cutie, taking back sunday. Basic teen rock. Good for outdoor rock shows.

Another of my favorite 70s progressive rock bands, Kansas.

I like Death Cab, Flaming Lips, and Arcade Fire, that sort of thing.

Checked out the first result for Muse on youtube. I like it! And a leader singer who can actually sing well, like in the old days. Nice.

At some point the singer reminded me of...I can't think of it. 60s band. I'll think of it.

Maybe Eric Carmen? Eh, maybe not. I dunno.

Awesome slow, bluesy version of Ace of Spades!
Apparently recorded for a Kronenbourg commercial.
