Petition to Stop Paul Ryan From Running for President.

Should anyone younger than me be allowed be the chief executive official of a country?

I'm not old enough to be a competent President/Prime Minister, so it only stands to reason that anyone younger than me must also be incompetent to serve in that capacity.

Petition to Stop Paul Ryan From Running for President.

Post by Coito ergo sum » Tue Aug 16, 2011 6:14 pm

http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/rya ... 90273.html Wisconsin congressman Paul Ryan is strongly considering a run for president. Ryan, who has been quietly meeting with political strategists to discuss a bid over the past three months, is on vacation in Colorado discussing a prospective run with his family. Ryan’s concerns about the effects of a presidential campaign – and perhaps a presidency – on his family have been his primary focus as he thinks through his political future.

“He’s coming around,” says a Republican source close to Ryan, who has been urging the 41-year-old to run. Image

I am shocked, shocked and amazed, that Paul Ryan could be running for President.

I propose an amendment to the Constitution to prohibit anyone younger than me from being permitted to serve as President of the United States.

This is, I think, the first time in my life when there has been even a hint that someone younger than me might run for President. This bothers me.

I assume others have reached this moment in their lives before me. Did it irk you in any way?

If elected, he'd be about the same age as Teddy Roosevelt and Jack Kennedy when they entered office. Not bad company, so his age isn't much of a factor for me. Besides, I'm still younger.

My problems with him stem from his philosphy. Anyone who calls himself an Ayn Rand disciple not only doesn't have my vote, but I'd take time off work to help campaign for his opponent. Rand's ideas are just as unrealistically crazy as Karl Marx's and for exactly the same reason: they vilify and dehumanize people on one end of the economic spectrum for the sake of coddling people at the other end.

Our struggle is not against actual corrupt individuals, but against those in power in general, against their authority, against the global order and the ideological mystification which sustains it.

This would be the first time for me too. It's an odd feeling, isn't it? But, I've gotten over having doctors younger than me, and I've (mainly) stopped tutting at the hiring we do at work of PhDs who are twenty years my junior ( :lay: overachieving fucks!), so.... :sigh:

I guess we're this now:

I think for me it stems from the fact that I can't see myself as capable of being President, and I can't allow myself to think I'm less capable than any of these jokers that we are presented with these days. They do not seem like the best and the brightest. In the past, candidates have seemed to have some sort of gravitas that made them weightier or more formidable than most folks. Today's candidates seem like just average Joes and average Janes that instead of becoming office workers or middle-managers decided to go in for politics, and they worked their way up that corporate ladder.

Younger than but with a lot more Congressional experience than Obama.
A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

For me, it was when I realised that the rugby players on the Irish team are all younger than me, and then realising that they were, for the most part, more than a decade younger. That freaked me out a bit, because a part of me was still looking up to them as if they were older! I mostly wasn't, but part of me was. At that moment, my attitude changed to being one purely about admiration of athletic skill and prowess.
