The 150 movie challenge (?) 2011
Re: The 150 movie challenge (?) 2011
Yes but I can watch Magnolia whenever. This is on TV now (the ads are on). I can see what you mean. The documentary isn't about the subjects it's about the documentor.

I thought it looked really lame in the trailer, but gave it the benefit of the doubt. It wasn't bad. It wasn't bad by any means. I just thought it could have been much better. I love the two stars. I mean, shit, Shaun of the Dead could just be the greatest movie ever made. But this one, to me, was just kinda meh. And oddly, as much as I love the two leads, the most interesting (and funniest) turnt out to be the secondary characters.rachelbean wrote:I loved it, I'm looking forward to watching it again
I'm not keeping track because I don't watch as many films as some of you others. But I just watched Stake Land, a zombie/vampire movie, and it was surprisingly good. Much better than the silly title might lead you to believe. It was bleak and depressing. It reminded me of The Road, but I think this one is better.

Re: The 150 movie challenge (?) 2011
Watching Season One of Louie, Louie C.K.'s show. It's not a Norman Lear style sitcom like Lucky Louie, as I expected. It's more Louie playing himself, or at least a slightly fictionalized version of himself. Half the show is him doing stand-up comedy routines or sitting around playing cards and shooting the shit or something with his comedian buddies, and the other half of the show consists of vignettes of family life or his attempts at dating or whatever. But the line between fantasy and reality is somewhat blurred. It's pretty interesting, and very funny if you like Louie (as I do). His comedy speaks to me. I can relate to a lot of it.

I saw this last year. I thought it was great but I only know one other person that likes it - most hate it! The photography is breathtaking.Pappa wrote: 242. The Fall - ***** (What an incredibly beautiful film. I was smiling through most of this.)

The guy who made The Fall made the upcoming Immortals.
I liked the visual style of The Fall but it bored the shit out of me. I preferred The Cell despite J-Lo.

Hopefully. It looks closer to 300 than The Cell or The Fall than I would've liked or thought when I heard about it a year ago. I guess the producers called the shots.
Maybe if it does well they'll let him do his own project after.
I think I might watch The Cell again.
