I was going to try and stir up a shit-storm by singing the praises of the MG 42, but I decided to leave be. A friend of mine did get to "play" with an MG42 once, when he was an extra in Saving Private Ryan.

The German MG 3 is basically an improved MG 42 using NATO-standard ammunition.

I've seen "insurgents" using the '42. They didn't know how to handle it.
