I think if you were to force the government welfare cases to work, you could accomplish more than forcing the rioters to work. How many elected officials have been caught stealing from their boss, only to find excuses and keep on going?

Someone who I occasionally spare with keeps coming up with this suggestion that criminals should
be deported to their country of origin or their parents or grandparents. If they happen to be English
then they should be sent indefinitely to a certain Scottish island. This is classic nimbyism and highly
impractical. I did suggest how would he feel if all of them were sent to Manchester but I do not think
that was given much thought. Yet he is absolutely serious in this particular belief and sees nothing in
it that is wrong at all. Interestingly one of those charged yesterday was teacher. Nothing surprises me
