Why does this not surprise me?
It doesn't prove anything one way or another, except that the AGW modellers and alarmists have been MASSIVELY overstating the certainty of their case. As I've pointed out many times.
Yahoo News wrote:
NASA satellite data from the years 2000 through 2011 show the Earth's atmosphere is allowing far more heat to be released into space than alarmist computer models have predicted, reports a new study in the peer-reviewed science journal Remote Sensing. The study indicates far less future global warming will occur than United Nations computer models have predicted, and supports prior studies indicating increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide trap far less heat than alarmists have claimed.

The study will be attacked, the authors vilified and the conclusions dismissed. There is no changing the mind of a True Believer, and besides, they have to justify spending 40 Grand on that Prius.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

When objective NASA satellite data, reported in a peer-reviewed scientific journal, show a "huge discrepancy" between alarmist climate models and real-world facts, climate scientists, the media and our elected officials would be wise to take notice. Whether or not they do so will tell us a great deal about how honest the purveyors of global warming alarmism truly are.
Suck on that!

Judging by who wrote this article my sceptic hat is on. I'm gonna wait and see what real scientists say.

You don't like James Taylor? Fair enough.
What about Roy Spencer?
The result is climate forecasts that are warming substantially faster than the atmosphere, says Dr. Roy Spencer, a principal research scientist in the Earth System Science Center at The University of Alabama in Huntsville.

[Roy Spencer] is an author for the über-conservative Heartland Institute (as is James Taylor, the author of the Forbes article), which receives substantial funding from — can you guess? — ExxonMobil. He is also affiliated with two other think tanks funded by ExxonMobil.

EDIT:
I was also surprised to find Spencer is a big supporter of Intelligent Design.

More on this Roy Spencer guy
here
Satellite Research Refuted
According to an August 12, 2005 New York Times article, Spencer, along with another well-known "skeptic," John Christy, admitted they made a mistake in their satellite data research that they said demonstrated a cooling in the troposphere (the earth's lowest layer of atmosphere). It turned out that the exact opposite was occurring and the troposphere was getting warmer.
"These papers should lay to rest once and for all the claims by John Christy and other global warming skeptics that a disagreement between tropospheric and surface temperature trends means that there are problems with surface temperature records or with climate models," said Alan Robock, a meteorologist at Rutgers University.
Seriously! Come back to me when you have something and don't insult me.

Oh well, back to the cook fire. Hang, on, no outdoor fires! Ok, back to the solar cooker.
