I don't know, but I've recently learned that the so-called "History Channel" has become little more than a 24 hour one-sided bible documentary station. My mother-in-law has it on all day to help reinforce her beliefs, because if it's on the History Channel it must be true.

A few years back it was all US Civil War and WWII. So I predict a program on how the ghost of Lincoln helped crack the Enigma code soon.hadespussercats wrote:Bible "history" or Nazis. What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

We watched a "Top Shot" marathon yesterday (not a bad show, even if you're not a gun nut.) They had some promo about Aliens and the pyramids or something.Gawdzilla wrote:Bah, Einstein cracked the Enigma code. I wish I could remember who it was who went on the rant: "Oooh, people could never have built the Pyramids... WHY NOT? It's a PILE OF ROCKS!"

IIRC, It all started with a contractor insisting that it couldn't be done with today's technology. If the interviewer would have offered more money for the job, I'm sure it would have become more possible.hadespussercats wrote:We watched a "Top Shot" marathon yesterday (not a bad show, even if you're not a gun nut.) Regarding the pyramid construction, a group of students from Indiana University built a section of Cheop's Pyramid in a quarry just to see how hard it was. They did a respectable job in one week, with just fifty kids. Ten thousand workers would have buzzed through that job.
