Libertarianism: The belief that out of all the terrible things governments can do, helping people is the absolute worst.

He was a black 'gangsta' that was armed and shot at a police officer; so the policeman responded by shooting him dead.FBM wrote:Who was this Mark Duggan and why do so many people give a shit that his ticket got punched?
Then there a vigil by the dickhead's family, and hundreds attended. They then protested outside the local police station, and began to riot, attacking businesses small and large and brutalising journalists who attempted to report events.
The police, being the pussies that they are, didn't take appropriate action and shoot them down with plastic bullets. So naturally, everything escalated further.

An aspiring rapper and former honor student trying to turn his life around no doubt. Never mind the illegal hand gun.
A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

Yes, just like that Brazilian terrorist that got shot dead by the Met police. Maybe we should wait until we have the full facts before we become judge and jury in the death of the black guy.

Quite right Pen. It wouldn't be the first time that British police "found" weapons on the dead post-mortem. (Bloody Sunday is one recently clarified case.Pensioner wrote:Yes, just like that Brazilian terrorist that got shot dead by the Met police. For my two cents, I'll give him and the police the benefit of the doubt for now. (And will be wary of the results of a too rapidly and circumscribedly held enquiry).
I am surprised by the naked racism in this thread by some fellow Ratz.

Re: Tottenham Riots
That wasn't racially motivated. The fucker was running from the police, and during an atmosphere of super-vigilance and panic. It culminated in the unfortunate death of an innocent.Pensioner wrote:Yes, just like that Brazilian terrorist that got shot dead by the Met police. These fucking morons are self-destructive, both to themselves and the environment on which they depend. They give justification for the far-right in this country, yet they have the nerve to cry that they're the 'victims'.
Operation Trident isn't racist, but guess what: major British-African communities are plagued with the conditions which allow organised crimes and drug dealing to survive and proliferate. The dickhead who was shot received everything that was coming to him, and the 'vigil' should have been an event of remonstrance in which the law-abiding citizens of Tottenham collectively urinate on the douchebag's bullet-riddled corpse.

Re: Tottenham Riots
There's racism, and then there's the deep feeling of malaise and corrupting tiredness of having to hear about another murder, stabbing, rape, gang-rape, mugging, burglary, shooting etc committed by British-blacks. I'm going to be clique here and say that I'm not 'racist', but every administration in the past 30 years has failed to rectify the anti-social, crime-infested 'communities' found in every predominantly black-urban city areas. I believe it's socio-economic, but you can't divorce ethnicity from reality when so many past governments--both local and central--have succeeded in addressing crime in white, working class areas.I am surprised by the naked racism in this thread by some fellow Ratz.

Re: Tottenham Riots
So shouldn't we be implementing policies that discourage those parents from having kids - or at least removing policies that encourage it?MrJonno wrote:Considering some of the parental environment some people are born to they are pretty much destined for jail or a life time of unemployment from the second they are conceived. You only have to look at the difference between a 'middle-class' (or just well brought up) 5 year old and a kid from a sink estate.
These kids are basically brain damaged from lack of non-shouting interaction with their parent(s) long before they even enter school

“The original reports claimed that de Menezes was acting suspiciously, was wearing a padded jacket, and ran when challenged, even vaulting the ticket barriers.Lozzer wrote:That wasn't racially motivated. However, the leaked documents, which include statements from officers involved in the operation and photographs of the scene, show that he behaved like any other commuter, used his travel pass to enter the station, even picking up a newspaper on his way. He was not challenged by police, and appears to have been unaware of being followed until after he entered the train. Photographic stills show he was only wearing a light denim jacket.
It appears that he only ran in order to reach a train that was about to leave the platform.
The leaked document describes CCTV footage, which shows Mr de Menezes entered Stockwell station at a "normal walking pace" and descended slowly on an escalator.
The document said: "At some point near the bottom he is seen to run across the concourse and enter the carriage before sitting in an available seat."
An eye witness, who was sitting opposite de Menezes on the train, is quoted as saying: "Within a few seconds I saw a man coming into the double doors to my left. He was pointing a small black handgun towards a person sitting opposite me. He pointed the gun at the right hand side of the man's head. The gun was within 12 inches of the man's head when the first shot was fired."
