Rights are human creations so as natural as a car or a gun which isnt my usual definition of natural and you can't physically protect shit if enough people wish you harm. Best way of protecting youself is to ensure your neighbour knows he will be arrested if he possess a gun and that law is enforced

As for emasculating ,politically correct want to throw in cultural marxism as well and all sounds frightening familiar
Do you fear your neighbors for some reason?

An AK-47 is a horribly inaccurate weapons at distance. It is more of a point and shoot weapon like a shotgun, hence full automatic being the norm, than an aim and fire weapon like a rifle.
A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

Definitely :)
I've never even been remotely interested in hunting and regard the French hunting culture (basically needless killing of wild animals, the origin of which in actual food gathering and popular taking over of a pastime formerly reserved to the nobility has been completely lost) with some disgust.

Then again, I know I'm blessed to be a urbanite with access to markets and that I never had need to hunt, and hopefully never shall.
Being untrained in the art of hunting, if you need to, you'll starve. Far better to be skilled in the hunt (and more tasty too!) so that at need you can survive.
This strong society that some rest in will fail eventually. I know people who couldn't start a campfire to cook what they loot from a supermarket let alone get meat for themselves from the local fauna. And who don't even know what plants to harvest, when or how.

In a true survival situation, I think feeble, weak individuals who wander into my camp expecting to be taken care of will be disappointed with my response.

Given any other factors in my situation, if I ever find myself in a world (or part thereof) where hunting is a requirement of survival, odds are I'll be dead anyway before I have time to actually starve to death. (like, for lack of the medicines needed to keep me functioning)

At any rate, I'd settle with firearms training and access to weapons and ammo. playing in the great outdoors doesn't appeal to me.

You won't have a gun but you would endorse the killing, by firearm, of anyone who did?
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

If you don't want to be part of society (collective if you prefer) , leave , obey its laws while you try to change them or expect to get locked up/shot dead by representatives of such society
Shot dead by representatives of........a society where there are no guns?
Perhaps you meant with bow and arrow?

Well, I wouldn't say that. The AK47 and its variants are highly accurate and the design is one of the most reliable in the world, not to mention easy and cheap to build. But a skilled handgun marksman has it over an unskilled AK user at close range.
It depends on what you consider a variant. A high quality weapon designed to high tolerances should be called something else :{D
The AK-47's high mechanical tolerances results in a high reliability for working, but that variability leads to inaccuracies over distances. Plus the barrel vibrates like a mother. Very effective against unarmed civilians at close range though :prof:

You take it the wrong way around. It has not been designed for long range accuracy because it was specifically made for relatively short range action, while set on full auto.
and while not the best weapon for the purpose, it is fairly accurate, and long ranged thanks to its powerful ammunition, when on single shot.

Possession of marijuana with a legal firearm in the back seat is a "crime committed using a gun" in the U.S.

Even so, I suspect you are misremembering the figures, or that they were bogus.

What a childishly ignorant and infantile statement. It's obvious to any adult, and even to children, that this person didn't care if he got arrested. In fact he was evidently looking forward to getting arrested, having completed his plan, so that he can maximize the political message he intended to send. Fat lot of good your "plan" would have done in this case.
Well obviously police intelligence failed, they should have been monitoring extremist websites and communications (like some you get here) and arrrested the guy before he started and hopefully the Norwegians and everyone else in Europe will.

A good start would be looking for anyone who uses marxism [emotive extremism] to describe anyone else, emasculation is a good one too. Search their houses to see if they have any firearms and then lock em up and throw away the key if they do

Let's say you could get your wish. Have you read any of what you write with an objective eye--the kind of eye the exterminating authorities would read it with? I think you'd be in trouble.

The actual example I was thinking of was a chair leg in a plastic bag (and the guy did have a record for armed robbery) , but if tragic mistakes like that are the price of ensuring we don't get guns flooding the streets then its a price that society has to pay

Ok.

A competent police force would know how to handle the kind of situation where there is a chair leg in a bag without killing the owner of the chair leg in a bag. A competent police force would know how to handle the kind of situation where there is a loaded rifle, with safety off, in a bag without killing the owner of the rifle in a bag.

If yours didn't, and reacted instead, they are not competent enough.

Perhaps they were taken by surprise when the owner of the chair leg in a bag didn't behave feeble and weak and they snapped and shot him? :dunno:
