Seth is discussing a practical way to reduce the body count of incidents like this. Everyone else is just wringing their hands and doing nothing.

Red herring. You might want to note that once again, there was only one gun present, and it was in the hands of the killer. Firearms may be used offensively or defensively, and people get killed with many other types of weapons than firearms all the time. But it's a fact that the most effective tool for self defense is a firearm, because it can be used against any attacker using any sort of weapon.

Your example doesn't prove anything other than that one needs to be prepared to defend oneself if one has family members prone to violence. I note as a counter example the several incidents in Japan and China where deranged persons killed and injured numerous schoolchildren with knives. Had one teacher in the classrooms been armed with a handgun, the toll would have been much smaller.

We can toss examples back and forth all day, but in the end the truth remains that firearms are effective tools of self defense, and it is immoral for government to prohibit their possession and use for self-defense, particularly on the notion that some people are acceptable casualties in the quest for lower firearms murder statistics.

The headline to one of the news articles I read went like this, "Norway police arrive 90 minutes after firing began."

An hour and a half.

A person can kill a lot of people in an hour and a half.

The police can not save you. They just investigate the aftermath.

He probably surrendered because he ran out of ammunition or ran out of victims to shoot, and wants to be able to stand up in court and pronounce his manifesto and bask in the approbation of those he seems to think support such heinous acts.

Firstly, if I was an armed citizen, I wouldn't be running in the direction of the shooting, I would be getting any friends and loved ones together, and getting as far away as possible. And I don't believe one word Seth says, I'm sure he would do the same.

Secondly, armed citizens mostly kill and and injure innocent people, and themselves.

Thirdly, it's the gun culture that encourages these loonies. This guy held legal guns. They nearly always have legal guns. It's legal guns that start off the weapons delusions in people, and Seth seems to be worryingly heading for that path.

That's why all private guns should be banned.

The "logic" of Seth's reasoning is that a large proportion of the population would be heavily armed all the time. Yeh, right, sounds a peaceful strategy to me.

And yet practically every Swiss household has at least one firearm available with which it would be possible to break all those laws like the Norwegian nutcase did. The presence and availability of firearms is not a causative factor in itself, or Switzerland would have depopulated itself by now. Logical disconnect ignored by PC sheeple, naturally. But of course, they are to be forgiven for that oversight by virtue of the fact that they're themselves so picturesque, nice and obedient to those who tell them what their opinions are.
