Re: The Innsmouth Look Day 2
^ I think we force scum's hand. Basically, you have cleared UT and I think everyone is accepting your role claim (if you were zigmen, you know we'd never buy it in a million years). So, you and UT get to throw your weight around, until scum take you out.

I'm teetering back and forth on him. I usually think I have a confident feel for his town game, but I've been wrong before, and I've been wrong in thinking him scum before too.irretating wrote:OK, I will do, charlou. It could possibly be telling that feck didn't actually step up to do some gib-style triangulation (and I mean when feck was around, not at the moment I suggested it, I do concede that he might need to sleep a couple of hours a day).Charlou wrote:irre, I recommend a review of Feck's posts in isolation.

This 'triangulation' term ... it implies establishment of a three-sided bloc?

fwiw I think the timing of you outing was spot on. Day 1 and it'd be disbelieved and scum would just sit back and special hunt. Later in the game and despite town's best efforts we'd be screwed.oblivion wrote:heh. this is one of the few roles that I simply won't use in gamessince I learned from experience how un-fun it is to be. It's a real downer knowing that your effect on the game is bad for your team.
The other roles I won't use are genrally acknowleded to be bastard GM roles. For some reason the beloved princess isn't seen that way.
I do hope that there is a town blocker. Seems everyone who knows the flavour agrees that it is a town blocker. Town must have other roles to offset the impact of your role. UT's, for one.

Yes, it does. But gib is pretty loose with how he plays it. He just boldly steps out and says 'I'm town and I trust xx' what should we do. I like it. Even if he were scum it's still a handy thing. I was hoping to get more of a feck buy-in and more participation, but yes I also thought I was talking to the one other player I was most confident was also town.charlou wrote:This 'triangulation' term ... it implies establishment of a three-sided bloc?

there is an upside to being a straight shooter in mafia.irretating wrote:^ I think we force scum's hand. It's a horrible for you and for town .. very much a damned if we do, damned if we don't decision.oblivion wrote:It was town's chance to have control of when the double night happens. Now scum get to decide whether it is tonight or not. And then town will have to decide again tomorrow whether to precipitate it or see if scum will do it.
And every delay puts us closer to endgame, and a time when scum will get to remove two players from the game when it matters most to them.

it's a sort of trust test, too. You learn a lot from how the other player reacts.irretating wrote:Yes, it does. But gib is pretty loose with how he plays it. ksen didn't do so good with this yesterday.

Must say the overt use of it by grit and gib was one of the most impressive aspects of gameplay last game.irretating wrote:Yes, it does. But gib is pretty loose with how he plays it. Re: The Innsmouth Look Day 2
yeah, the overt thing is interesting. It used to happen a lot in TR mafia in a more subtle way. It was like a network. Player A can read Player B and C. Player C can read Player D. Before you know it there's a web of trust and trust by proxy. It was almost like the cabals that form in PM games, but it happened right out in the open and the scum players couldn't shut it down because it involved so many town.charlou wrote:Must say the overt use of it by grit and gib was one of the most impressive aspects of gameplay last game.irretating wrote:Yes, it does. I think we're starting to develop that here at ratz. If it does, then there will be occasional games where scum fall like bowling pins.

OK I've reread all of feck's posts. I can see why there is concern about him (especially his interactions with ksen) but I am using a meta reason to consider him town. I just don't think a scum feck would react like that to a town diva. But, IMO he didn't start the scrap, so perhaps my meta reason isn't so great.

from what i recall, he was agitated that she said he looked so scummy. i've seen him react before as scum to townies.irretating wrote:OK I've reread all of feck's posts.
