Re: Man goes on trial for name calling
In Germany it is a criminal offence to deny the Holocaust. The English historian David Irving has been to jail for doing exactly this. As much as I disagree with him, I fully support his democratic right to do so. When he was invited by the Oxford Union to participate in a debate, there were many outside objecting to him having this freedom. One of those was George Galloway. Who has a three hour show every weekend on talkSPORT radio and looses no opportunity to tell the nation what he thinks on various issues. Yet he chooses to deny this same freedom to another, merely because of his views. That is wrong, pure and simple. I have a lot of respect - no pun intended - for George, but on this he is way off the mark. He himself was so upset when he was banned from exercising his free speech in Canada as the government deemed him a security risk. But if that had happened to David Irving, then George would have been very happy indeed. George as you may know is a Christian and forgive my cherry picking, but didn't Jesus say that you must do unto others as they do unto you ?
