I live in Georgia and Carolina. "flux" reminds me of the Civil War, or what I usually refer to as the War of Northern Aggression. It continues somewhat. When the official U.S. State Quarters came out a while back, my alma mater was more or less kicked out of the nation, because it resides in Dade county in the Northwest corner of Georgia, which was cut off from the outline of Georgia on the quarter. During the Confederacy, Dade had seceded from both Georgia and the Union because Georgia was being too slow about secession. They didn't officially rejoin the United States until July 4, 1945, quite a while after other folk.

I like to go back to Georgia's English charter. That way we get to extend the State from Sea to Sea, from the Atlantic to the Pacific, which makes Dallas, Phoenix, and Los Angeles part of the State.
