Re: Starfleet Day 3
Ok then, dispassionately, what does your gut say is the right thing to do?
I don't know if it's ever happened to you, but more than once I have been at ground zero of an improbable concatenation of night actions that resulted in no kills. I can't entirely dismiss the possibility that there was more goin on last night than meets the eye today.
ksen may remember one. He was the jailkeeper and I was the seer. He protected/blocked me, and both the scumkill and the sk-kill, which had targeted me, failed to happen. He was sure that the simple explanation - that I'd been the killer was much more likely than the complex one - that I'd been the target of every goddamn night action in the game, except my own (which failed - but I did target the SK that night).
even so, ockham says lynch mantis. but my gut is getting progressively more dissatisfied with it.

iow what UT said:
I really don't have a read on her much atm, last night she seemed fairly scummy but i'm less sure today. i just think with what ksen told us and there being no night kill it makes her a very strong candidate. I just wish I had more than a mere mechanical reason for thinking that.

xpost thing AGAIN

Yeah, goes to show that Occam isn't always the right way to go.oblivion wrote:ksen may remember one. He was the jailkeeper and I was the seer. Mantis is Fatima right?
I have a history of misjudging her over at TR as she can probably well attest to. If we don't go for her today then I think UT is our next best option.

In a recent game she and I both played, I fatalistically self-voted at one point because I thought the player in the leading bandwagon was town, and that I'd be the next lynch anyway. It had an interesting impact on the day if not the game.
I wondered if irre has something similar in mind, if nothing else as a signal I would notice.
well I certainly can't find it. It really seems to me that she does give up more when she's truly pegged as scum, but i'm so bollucks with searches that i won't push it.

Re: Starfleet Day 3
not sure of the addressability of this.
last night, Mantis was right in the middle of my unsure/leaning scum group, because most of my reads have been town reads (and I'm still flip-flopping a little on some of those). if not for ksen's night action, I'd still be wondering if the green haired roleblocker is a harried scum team's invention, rather than provisionally clearing Irre.
And I do keep in mind that a night 1 scum-on-scum block is not unheard of. the scumblock alone is not enough to clear her. I tried blocking myself in the only scum game I've played at ratz. (fucking Aza, but that's another story).

Re: fatalistically
not aforementioned, but my recollection is that she does give up/doesn't fight as hard when she's scum. probably because she doesn't want to accidentally implicate teammates. self-voting is not the same as not fighting, though.Uselesstwit wrote:oblivion wrote:I don't remember her doing it as scum or town.Uselesstwit wrote:ob, am I wrong about irre being more likely to throw in the towel as a caught scum than as town? If you know which thread to search, there is a search box at the top of every page in the thread that lets you search within the thread, I think.

i've had the same thought ob. i really wish someone more trusted had been blocked. I've also wondered if last night holodeck being on but no body being found doesn't point more to a protect than a block. It seems like from the op we have a good chance of having mccoy as an active character.

Re: Starfleet Day 3
UT I have never self voted as scum. You are barking up the wrong tree.
I don't get the mantis lynch at all. If she was scum, she had no reason to claim block, she was under no pressure.
Why was there no kill last night? I think scum decided to wait it out. I teased scum to kill adenosine and then town would lynch me... I'm certain it would have played ut. Scum would be laughing. But. No scum kill. Everyone knows I think adenosine is scum. Look at all his posts today, he was just blowing around with whatever theory people were putting up.
Unvote vote adenosine
I have UT as town due to doing the same thing as me re Denny on day 1.

Re: Starfleet Day 3
allopathically,, I see a few possibilities tbh. and I can think of a very good reason for scum who are familiar with some of the weaknesses in my game to target Irre on night 1.Uselesstwit wrote:i've had the same thought ob. i really wish someone more trusted had been blocked. ^ is this me giving up? No.
I'm not sure of feck. My list is adenosine and perhaps bilirubin but his day 1 on Denny was pretty convincing. I think grit is town. The thing with mantis is, it seems like she is town. If she were scum and had intended to do the kill and targeted ob, would being switched by keen kill mantis? I think it would, so I'm leaning town on her. Too much eagerness from everyone for my liking.

Idiot iPad. I'm certain it would have played out, not ut. Scum get two town and are laughing it up, no pressure.irretating wrote:UT I have never self voted as scum. You are barking up the wrong tree.
