Even though I'm a natural socialist ( of sorts ) I voted for Thatcher. Not because I liked anything at all about her, but because the alternative at the time was infinitely worse.

Neil Kinnock and the Labour Party were a real danger to the world and the country, and had to be stopped.
And stop them she did. And she took on the unions and beat them, which had to be done, and which the labour party would never have done.
I hate the woman, but I would vote for her again, in the same situation.

I marvel at the way that papers use the word "fear" when someone who is very old is on the verge of dying. It's as if they're all saying "oh golly, this has never happened before". Old people die. Young people die. That's (the end of) life.
