Legacy Wardrobes

Post by Gallstones » Wed Jun 01, 2011 8:47 pm

A legacy wardrobe is basically old clothing that you have had for a long time. I think it has to still fit, but I'm not sure. Maybe it is favorite items that might not fit but you hope it will again so you keep it?

Anyway I have been going through my closet and trying on the old stuff.
This is what fits.

Purchased in the late 80's from Spiegel. Together brand.
It is in excellent condition. I'm repairing the buttons today so I can wear it tonight.

Purchased in the mid to late 80's from The Gap. Levi brand.
The fabric held up very well, excellent condition. But all the color faded out.
The applique and embroidery I did about 18 years ago during my American Indian spirituality phase. It works for this shirt.

Because the color was so pale and faded, I decided to dye it. I added the dye last Friday.

Love the blue! That's an addition that makes the whole thing a million percent better!

I have a few things that either don't fit as they once did or are damaged in some way that they can't be worn as they used to - I wish was creative with sewing and clothesmaking and could fashion something new from them and salvage the workable bits. :ask:

This only works if you are the same weight as when your legacy clothes fitted, right?

Everything I bought on Carnaby St. in 1968 is still in a wearable state. So why buy news stuff?

Oh, no. Twiggy made that style famous back in 1966. One scamp said it gave the illusion that she actually had hips.

Or the same size, maybe same shape--or better.
So, yeah.

It was so anemic looking when faded.

I like the first top as well. The melty colours in them both remind me of the fabrics you use in your work.

Pictures would help a lot.
