Lady Gaga - charisma free zone
Lady Gaga - charisma free zone
The whole Lady Gaga phenomenon has grown without me paying to much attention, to the point where she has been ludicrously described as one of the five most powerful people in the world.
Last week she was in the UK and, as is usual here, she went on the media merry-go-round and appeared on various shows. I caught her on two different shows, and I was really looking forward to listening to some of her music for the first time and hearing pearls of wisdom from this giant of the entertainment business. What I got was:
*Mediocre, entirely vacuous and forgettable cod-Europop reminiscent of the Cheeky Girls.
*A very plain looking girl (ugly?) who looked like a cross between Amy Winehouse and Liza Minelli.
*No charisma at all. No wit, no warmth, no spark, no energy, no fun. Nothing. It was scary how little personality she had, and it went beyond shyness.
*Her persona and fame seems to depend upon her flamboyant costumes, which other people create for her.
Why does this keep happening? Why does the shit keep rising to the top and gigantic success while truly brilliant musicians struggle and go under?

I was led to believe she designed her own costumes.
That aside; I don't see the point in her.

There is a design team called the "Haus of Gaga" and she is credited as the "lead designer", but I'm willing to bet she's the lead "designer" in the same way that Katie Price "writes" her own books and Robbie Williams "co-wrote" classic songs with Guy Chambers.Animavore wrote:I was led to believe she designed her own costumes.

What 'classic songs' did Guy Chambers write?

Well, the songs are classic in that they are so memorable. It's just a shame that they have been sung by such a cast-iron cunt.
Imagine a song like "She's the one" done by System of a Down...

I saw her on a chat show - was it Graham Norton maybe?..I was struck by all the things you say Dev, except there was one thing that made her stand out a bit to me and that was the knowingness of it all. She is clearly conscious, aware and in control of the monster in ways that people like Elton John were not.
There's nothing there by way of talent though.
..and she has three albums in the charts.

Excellent point about the awareness. She's a corporate construct.Rum wrote:I saw her on a chat show - was it Graham Norton maybe?..I was struck by all the things you say Dev, except there was one thing that made her stand out a bit to me and that was the knowingness of it all. You'd never see her making a tit of herself. It's remarkable - even though she wears the most ridiculously funny clothes there is absolutely zero humour. Just coldness.Animavore wrote:Lozzer said my cousin made a tit of himself in front of her on the Northen show
Your cousin's tittyness is commendable.

I will scream the suggestion to them when I see them in concert in a few weeks! I'm sure they will thank me for the great idea and do itdevogue wrote:Animavore wrote:What 'classic songs' did Guy Chambers write?![]()
