Re: Darkover Mafia - Day 2
UT voted Mantis for Regent. Should we read anything into that?

Re: Darkover Mafia - Day 2
Well if we should read something into it, then chances are that UT knew that too, so he must have voted for her knowing that we'd suspect Mantis if UT was ever killed and revealed to be Scum. Therefore, we should treat Mantis as Town.Bolero wrote:UT voted Mantis for Regent. Should we read anything into that?
Unless of course he knew we'd think that, in which case we should lynch Mantis.
Does that help?

Haha. Had to look that up :-)Bolero wrote:Gee, WIFOM much, CJ?
But ok, there's something else to consider... If it's a case of WIFOM, then there's a chance we'll either suspect Mantis or not. It would be far safer just to leave your Scum buddies out of the equation altogether, just in case we do happen to get it right. So for that reason we should probably treat Mantis as Town.
Unless he knew we'd think that, of course, which presents a wonderful opportunity to perpetrate a bold double-bluff over which UT could crow from beyond the grave, in which case we should think of Mantis as Scum! :-)
Does that help?
Re: Darkover Mafia - Day 2
Well it all depends on whether the scummies knew their teammates before Regent voting or not. If not, then UT was just shooting in the dark like everyone else.
If so, THEN we've got something to think about. And it seems so me that the simplest explanation in that situation would be the one where scum vote for scum.

Re: Darkover Mafia - Day 2
Ok, but if they knew each other, then surely they should have clinched the regent nomination and got their man in the role.Bolero wrote:Well it all depends on whether the scummies knew their teammates before Regent voting or not. If not, then UT was just shooting in the dark like everyone else.

But of course if they all did that, then their cards would be marked, being easily identifiable by the fact they all voted for the same person.
So, we can assume that...
1. scum didn't know who each other were, and/or
2. not all scum voted for scum for Regent.
In either case, the chances of UT knowingly voting for another scum are minimal, therefore we should not think of Mantis as either Scum or Town based on UT's vote for her.
Does THAT help!?

I think there's a bit of trying to make up for missing a whole day by posting even when I've got nothing to say going on here.Bolero wrote:You're determined to help, aren't you?
Also, I'm innocent, so I can blithely type away unfettered by concerns of incriminating myself with some ill-considered remark.

Feck, what do you think of Charlou?
Re: Darkover Mafia - Day 2
However, I must say I'm a bit miffed because my scumdar (which is perennially on the blink) was actually correct for once, but sadly useless. :-(

Okay - up to page 8, and the first thing that strikes me as odd is UT's vote for me. The reason given (that I'm normally an active player) seems a tad confected to me. I mean, there's a difference between being active, and NOT MAKING ANY POSTS AT ALL, which must have struck him as a bit of a dumb move on my part if I were guilty; to have drawn so much attention to it by not posting anything!? Nup... a bit odd if you ask me.

Re: Darkover Mafia - Day 2
I think the scum would have known who each other are. All players were likely notified of their alignment before day zero, and I doubt a second round of PM's would have gone out to scum to fill them in after that vote.CookieJon wrote: So, we can assume that...

Of course UT is a crafty bastard and probably would have not nominated a scummy for Regent.

See, every time I say something like that on here, someone FoSes me for it.CookieJon wrote:

Anyway, I've just had a read-through of UT's posts from yesterday, and I'm now convinced that neither Aza nor ksen are on the scum team. UT did a lot of whiteknighting yesterday, but in terms of FoSing, these are the only two that he FoSed outright. He also voted for you, cookie, but didn't try to follow it up or accompany it with an accusation.
Plus, ksen's kidnapping makes me feel he's cleared - well, cleared of scum team, though he could be an indie.

What's your read on Diva now?def wrote:I was the other, and for roughly the same reason.CookieJon wrote:1. I voted Divagreen to be the regent, simply for the reason that she was the one who invited me over here to join this game, and I had nothing else to go on.
Re: Darkover Mafia - Day 2
Absolutely nothing either way. Why, what about Diva has brought her to your attention?
There is, however, one person I'm keeping my eye on, but for really obscure reasons that you could almost describe as "clutching at straws". Hhehe. So I won't even bother naming my target at this point. (But it's obviously not Diva or Mantis)

I agree that ksen can be set aside for today, but cleared is a bit much.Bolero wrote:See, every time I say something like that on here, someone FoSes me for it.CookieJon wrote:
