The difference between bitches discharging while in estrous is that the bitch is at the point of ovulation and fertility and is receptive. Women during mensus are at the opposite--the none fertile time.

Some mares will produce copious discharge during estrus and they will even squirt it. But, as with a bitch, it is at her fertile period.

Can anyone tell me why?

I've searched the net and all I've come up with is some guy saying it cleanses the uterus of germs etc yeah, and he said he was a doctor

and I've heard the humans hide their fertile time argument, but that is silly because it would only work if the infertile time was hidden too

maybe the question should be

why not?

evolution is not a case of the best

but what does the job

We do carry our babies longer than most other animals (though, not all, and I don't know the menstruation details for let's say, elephants) so they are large when born. Needing to carry them that long means needing a very thick uterine wall, too much I expect, to be re-absorbed easily, especially considering it happens monthly for us as long as we are not pregnant. It's totally a guess, but I'm thinking the reasons are somewhere along those lines.

OK. My theory.

Human females, unlike many mammals, have continuous ovulation cycles. If women only became fertile once a year, there would be no trouble reabsorbing everything. BUT, since time spent reabsorbing is time wasted in a continuous cycle, only part of the lining is absorbed and the rest is dumped to make way for the next ovulation - thus speeding up the process and increasing the percentage of time that women are fertile.

I am amazed that I got through that without one joke about tits - so here you are... :moobs:

And factor in what has already been said about human placentas being relatively large and complex, owing to the length of gestation, making reabsorption a more difficult and lengthier task.

I would also surmise that the 2/3 that is reabsorbed comprises the components that are too costly for the body to replace every month and that the more easily fabricated stuff - such as blud - is what gets dumped. The evolutionary tradeoff is therefore the cost of replacing a glassful of blood, against increased fertility - makes sense to me.

A shame that evolution didn't factor in the social ignorance and superstition factors though - isn't anyone intelligently designing these things? :dunno:

endometria, not placenta

thinking that we have fairly large reproductive organs compared to most animals ( how big are our babies compared to other animals? )

that may have something to do with it
