That's what I thought. I would describe it as a large shack, not a mansion.kiki5711 wrote:when the news announced pictures of "inside OBL's mansion, I was expecting to see a mansion. It is a dump.

These conspiracy theorists are more annoying than wooists. At least yer religious deludee has the good grace to (largely) stick to one topic (i.e. God), and sort of adhere to the shite that's contained in their single tome of choice; the conspiracy theorist (and it's NOT a fucking theory, you've hijacked that word and you don't know what it really means) just makes stuff up about a plethora of random and varied world events with the apparent backing and authority of science behind them. Bollocks.

abovetopsecret.com is frothing! This is the biggest thing for them since Mechagodzilla destroyed Fukushima on orders of the NWO.
Re: Is Bin Laden really dead?
That's an understatement, to put it mildly. If Bin Laden turned out to be alive and free after this announcement, that'd pretty much be the end of the Obama administration. Even I wouldn't vote for him next year. If he somehow turned out to be alive but captured, that'd be different.JimC wrote:If the US for some weird reason made this up, and in a few weeks Bin Laden popped up on video, basically saying "liar, liar, pants on fire" it would be a massive embarresment for the US.
This is the axiom of conspiracy theories: the bigger the news story, the more likely there are to be a wide range of batshit theories folowing it. Even when they completely defy all sense of reason or evidence.
Does this axiom have an official name? If not, I call dibs on naming it. Ian's Law of Conspiracy Theories.

dead or alive, one thing that is virtually a guarantee is that the official US story is not true.
Our struggle is not against actual corrupt individuals, but against those in power in general, against their authority, against the global order and the ideological mystification which sustains it.

Too much of a blanket statement. The official US story has not yet coalesced; when it does, it may leave some details out, add some spin or be misleading in some respects. But, give he is dead (or, more improbably, incarcerated) via US action, the essence of the story is correct.sandinista wrote:dead or alive, one thing that is virtually a guarantee is that the official US story is not true.

Depends on what or who is considered a "conspiracy theorist". Even more annoying are individuals who believe that governments, or other powerful entities, don't outright lie, conspire, manipulate, etc. Especially when it comes to wars. Those people are as blinded by faith as religious fanatics.Rum wrote:Ditto: It is this sort of thing which makes me contemplate giving up using the internet now and again!Tigger wrote:These conspiracy theorists are more annoying than wooists. As are those that believe that everything that those governments say has to be a lie!sandinista wrote:Depends on what or who is considered a "conspiracy theorist". A book is a version of the world. If you do not like it, ignore it; or offer your own version in return.

I like skepticism and doubt.
Blurry line between those and paranoia, I guess, but I still like them.
