I clicked the wrong cam button yesterday. BTW, you should work on your aim or wipe your shoes before leaving the loo. The code name for the courier whose family were the primary occupants of the house was obtained from Khalid Sheik Mohammed. Whether Sheik Mohammed would have revealed that information without having been waterboarded is unclear.Feck wrote:I would be surprised if ANY of the info gathered under long term repeated torture led to this .

We can't confuse the state of the interrogated with the state of the interrogator. While the interrogated may be on the verge of a breakdown, or worse, the interrogator is probably quite focused on the information to be had.Warren Dew wrote:The code name for the courier whose family were the primary occupants of the house was obtained from Khalid Sheik Mohammed. I'm picturing that passage in quotes for some reason. ![]() |
Re: Osama bin Laden: Dead
Actually, it appears that waterboarding Kahlid Sheik Mohammed, the imprisoned mastermind of the 1993 WTC bombing is what lead to identifying the bin Laden courier who eventually fucked up and made a phone call, which allowed the CIA to find bin Laden's compound and eventually put a bullet in his head.Feck wrote:Torture does not give much information . With a cell based terrorist structure it can only give you info (at best ) that probably you already know or will be out of date by the time you get it . Strangely torturing an innocent yoghurt salesman for MONTHS is not how they got the info to catch Bin Laden , I would be surprised if ANY of the info gathered under long term repeated torture led to this .
'Waterboarding tends to increase a person's forthrightness' this comment lessens my opinion of you considerably .
Three cheers for waterboarding.
You see, it may produce a lot of waste information, but even trained spies, after being waterboarded hundreds of times, will screw up their stories in some small way that may provide the one puzzle-piece that's needed to break the case when combined with other pieces obtained from other terrorists using the same non-lethal, non-torture interrogation method.
I don't care how uncomfortable it makes the captured terrorist because he's a terrorist and has no rights at all. By choosing to be a terrorist, he's forfeited all his rights. Period.
Edit: Sorry, meant to say "eventually allowed Seal Team Six to put a bullet in his head." Gotta give credit where credit is due.

Not in the least. I'd disband and eject the organization from the U.S., which would mean my position as Secretary General would disappear, and I'd go back to twitting Netwits and defending liberty.charlou wrote:A dictator, then. No surprise there.
