+1
People don't want to hear educated, sophisticated opinions on breaking news. They want the flag waving moron to be, well, a moron.
Indeed. Truth and reality are too nuanced and multi-faceted to be suitably appropriate for ten seconds on the news.

I'm more interested in how this will affect our policies about the three wars we are in, and Gitmo.
Atheists have always argued that this world is all that we have, and that our duty is to one another to make the very most and best of it. ~Christopher Hitchens~

It's the same everywhere. They always seem to find the most moronic human in town to answer a few questions in the street for the TV news.
I'm sure it is... but as we're so insular over here we rarely see that playing out in other parts of the world (another source of embarrassment in itself!)

Many Americans don't have a fucking clue what kind of shit our government has done. They accept blindly that our country is the greatest country in the world, perfect in every way. Anyone who is in any way critical of our govermnent's policies and actions is labeled as unpatriotic, or even treasonous. When in fact the opposite is true. Admiring what this country stands for, and expecting our government to hold to those high ideals is about as patriotic as you can get.
People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.

But those letters are not silent.

They're just waiting their turn.

Killing Osama a week after 911, then (IMO) understandable.

10 years after? just looks weak and over-compensating. But have to keep the Mob fed or they turn on "you".

Rationally, it should have little to no effect.

I'm bored of Osama being dead.

Can't the Americans murder someone funnier? Like Donald Trump.

I've seen people say stupid shit like that elsewhere. On those forums I asked if there was a statute of limitation on murder in the US?

On a lark, while transiting to school, I turned the radio on and skipped through each talk show host. I wanted to see how long it took the speaker to say something overtly bigoted or idiotic. One talk show host lasted 90 seconds before he said something about people like them(Muslims) wanting to destroy America. The rock show speakers are amusing though with the way they approach this subject, by the way.
I can live with doubt, and uncertainty, and not knowing. I think it's much more interesting to live not knowing than to have answers which might be wrong. [...] I don’t feel frightened by not knowing things, by being lost in a mysterious universe without having any purpose, which is the way it really is, as far as I can tell, possibly. It doesn’t frighten me. - Richard Feynman

The guy on CNN has slipped up and said Obama instead of Osama about 4 time each hour.
I'm wild just like a rock, a stone, a tree
And I'm free, just like the wind the breeze that blows
And I flow, just like a brook, a stream, the rain
And I fly, just like a bird up in the sky
And I'll surely die, just like a flower plucked
And dragged away and thrown away
And then one day it turns to clay
It blows away, it finds a ray, it finds its way
And there it lays until the rain and sun
Then I breathe, just like the wind the breeze that blows
And I grow, just like a baby breastfeeding
And it's beautiful, that's life
