Only horizontal sundials. However, most sundials I've seen are vertical. 8-)

If they ran the other way, then they'd still be going clockwise.
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

From the otherside looking through the mechanism. This is interesting.

I think Robert means that "clockwise" is defined by the the way that a clock runs.
Therefore if clocks ran the other way, then that would be clockwise.

Which i have to agree is pretty damned insightful and I wish I'd thought of it. :fp:

If they didn't run clockwise then they would run widdershins. Personally, the further I can stay from Widder's shins, the better! :?

I should start another thread about why digital clocks don't count down the day?
