Diva!!! :lay:

You played great. Irre nice call on voting for Gonzo straight off the bat, and you 2 fosing each other. What a mind twist.

Indeed - we should of had a mass claim. Sorry for voting you last day Fuzzy. I thought you were lying.... :fp: recollections of the game on TR where you claimed to be vig, made me all suspicious of your lying capabilities!

Nice one scum.

I actually thought that praying was the seer - because I think on day 2 she said to MZ: "I know you are scum". And I thought that Feck was the vig, who went for Charlou night 1. I thought Ob got 4 points from scum, and Charlou 4 points from the non existing vig.

praying and diva both dropped seer tells. between the genuine tells, the intentionally fake ones and the (i think...) inadvertant ones we seemed neck deep in specials.

they couldn't all be real.

was another reason I thought we needed a mass out.

Nice work, scum team. :td:

Very sorry I wasn't around for more of it.

I might have to re-think my IRL commitments for the next mafia.

Thanks, zigmen and denny - this must have been a bugger to construct, this game. Good thought into the details.

Thank you, Zigmen and Denny. It was fun. This was an awesome idea for a game structure!

Thank you, scummates. I learned lots from you.

I am truly sorry, town...no hard feelings, eh? :begging:

I don't think that I am quite cut out to be scum.

exactly. stating something that emphatic without a step by step through his posts pointing out inconsistencies, etc., looks like special knowledge, i.e., seer.

I wonder how many people voted MZ because they thought you had viewed him.

it's kind of a relief that there was no vig. I've been shaking my head over night 1 the whole game.

from a player perspective I think the game design was too opaque. town couldn't make sense of the "kills" because scum could target more than one player per night. also, the quantity of oddball specials made it easy for scum to concoct one. it was too good to be true, but at that point, town was desperate for some good news, I think.

Some of my game designs have been justly criticized for having mechanisms that town can't figure out by midgame, and I think this game had that sort of balance issue. Also, the night actions were able to swing the game widely one direction or the other without actually providing information about what was happening or why.

With the specials marginalized as happened in this game, a mass out on day 4 was really the only chance for a win. It's not a very satisfying way to win, though, and it's a hard sell to town.

I thought about switching to diva near nightfall (but was easily persuaded not to because I didn't have a strong case for diva being scum). I don't know if that would have been a sufficient change to get town to another day but it might have.

Scum only needed 8 people armed and we won with 9, if that makes you feel any better.

I felt like I had two different personalities playing this game. I knew that the vote spreading was not the best idea for town, because scum could just divide the points and get people armed quicker. I was in a panic Oblivion, when you suggested to pile the points on already armed players, since that would have bought you guys another day.

The weird distribution of points was due to my lack of experience and because last minute night requests. At the beginning of this game I was finishing up another one, so I was a bit distracted.

And MZ, we had no clue that you were the bomb. If you had not outed and the game had gone on for another day, you would have me, because I was gonna lay some points on you.

And we had no idea that Feck was the seer. I was almost going to claim myself as the seer but then I realised we did have one, so backed off of that idea.

It was fun, but it was stressful. It was really funny watching Irre as the outed scum come in and do commentaries and everyone trying to ignore her.

you did well. you were able to look less scummy than the most scummy looking town players.

gonzo's role claim was really good too. at that point town players really wanted to believe we had an ace in the hole.

Thanks for the game, zig and denny!

UT will probably say I'm evil (or something else equally untrue). I think I agree with you, ob, on the opaque game design. I was never 100% across everything and I was scum.

I do have to laugh, though, it is always the case that a townie trying to figure things out (in this case MZ) takes the rap as being scummy.

I think town got unlucky, with mantis not being online as often as she has been for past games. The only reason I was doing the 'UT is town' thing is that UT knew that I knew he was town, so I had to keep clearing him otherwise he'd twig to me. Maybe it was because I knew gonzo was scum, but I think his game was much more like his first game here (when he was scum don) and so I was a little surprised to come under so much attention for laying the votes on him. He got to clear his vest, which of course town didn't know. His fake role claim was hilarious. I guess with such a different game design it's more plausible to come up with new roles. Ask UT, he's the albatross expert :smug:

It occurred to me at about day 3 or so that the only way to keep track of things would have been to of had a spreadsheet right from the beginning. I've never done one of those before, and there was just no time to go back and read through the threads thoroughly enough to jot the information down. I agree that there was no way town would have been able to work out all the mechanics, unless there was an out... and maybe not even then. But, it was the first time playing it with this setup... if we so happened to ever do it again, we'd probably be a lot less frazzled.

Diva, someone has to be scum. The better the acting, the more challenging and fun it is for town :)

Thanks for the game Zigmen n Denny :td:

actually irre i twigged to you anyway. it's just when operating under the zigmen gag order I wasn't sure how far I could push it. Speaking of which, zigmen there is a very good reason to not let someone who knows a players absolute identity into a game. Letting them onto another team is even worse than I'd expected.

But this was an excellent game, very hi in wifom and a complete mindbender, very well done indeed you two.
