Our struggle is not against actual corrupt individuals, but against those in power in general, against their authority, against the global order and the ideological mystification which sustains it.

Yea, except that the dependent class is hardly limited to corporations. The vast majority of the dependent class is made up of delusional liberal, progressive and Marxist drones who are incapable of rational thought.sandinista wrote:coito, seth and myself all agree that the people have carried the dependent class aka the corporate class, for too long. actually the vast vast vast majority of the dependent class are the various members of the corporate wealthy elite. Seems like your saying regular working people are the dependent class...really?Seth wrote:

*Stop coddling corporations: yep, pretty much.
*Legalizing drugs: partially yes. Legalizing marijuana would be a great start, though I sure as shit don't want to see an across-the-board legalization where PCP and crystal meth are suddenly available at my local Walgreens. But maybe, if weak and relatively harmless stuff like pot were legalized, then some of the much more harmful hard stuff would lose their appeal; fewer people will risk trying to obtain that stuff if they can just go to a store and get some weed safely and legally.
*Religion is bullshit: obviously yes!
So we're all about the hugs today. I like it.

Certainly there are too many breaks given to big corporations, and too much "the government will have to bail us out if we stuff up". Big corporations generally have way too much influence on both the government and the media, since they have the money to buy the spin.sandinista wrote:coito, seth and myself all agree that the people have carried the dependent class aka the corporate class, for too long. This doesn't mean get rid of big corporations, it means a careful examination of the methods they use to exert undue influence, and careful legislation (enacted by a rational, centre-left government) to rein them in...

Good luck with that. The governments of neo-liberal type democracies are made up of the same people as the multi nationals. Why would a government hurt it's own interests? Especially now, with global "free trade" if a government is too hard on a corporation it'll pack up and leave to somewhere friendlier. Taking jobs and capital with it.JimC wrote:

That is a fair point, it is a difficult issue for national governments to deal with.sandinista wrote: Especially now, with global "free trade" if a government is too hard on a corporation it'll pack up and leave to somewhere friendlier. Taking jobs and capital with it.

And that's a good thing, too, as it's the only thing keeping government overregulation in check.JimC wrote:That is a fair point, it is a difficult issue for national governments to deal with.sandinista wrote: Especially now, with global "free trade" if a government is too hard on a corporation it'll pack up and leave to somewhere friendlier.
