So those individuals are looking at life in prison? Sounds like those civilized countries don't take kindly to a bunch of their soldiers going on a killing spree, and those countries are apparently willing to take action against their own soldiers if they do.

The individual soldiers may be barbarians in this case, but it seems to me like the US government is acting decidedly civilized in this matter. Well, apart from the possibility that these guys could get the death penalty. I don't think that's very civilized.

It was an appalling incident, and an inditement not only on the soldiers, but their chain of command. Heads should roll.

Having said that, the US military is obviously treating this as a crime (as they should); life imprisonment would be a sensible option.

And there must be a high-level inquiry about how the hell a rogue team could act in this way. Pathetic command and control, it would seem...
