I vividly remember the first time I heard that, aged about 15! I remember the girl I was with, too. Both were superb on their own, together they were just amazing!

It was Keith Moon who is credited with coming up with the name, but it was claimed by John Entwistle that it was originally his idea. When Chris Welch was interviewing them, he wrote down Lead Zeppelin in his notebook, but Peter Grant corrected it to Led, because it would be mis - pronounced by Americans. Def Leppard have always denied that their name was inspired by them. Too much of a coincidence, me thinks Joe. For most of eternity, Led Zep II was my favourite. Then a little tete a tete with it's more famous cousin. But now I have come to the concllusion that it has to be Physical. The second greatest album of all time. I like them all. Outdoor is my least favourite, but no one is consistently brilliant - no one. Just remember them at their peak. In a hundred years time, people will still be listening to Led Zeppelin. You can't say that for everyone. I only wish I had been born a decade younger and been able to see them in their heyday.

Blues is for black dudes in Chicago and Detroit to sing about whisky and wimmin but without that annoying rap cadence. How did it get to England?

By the same route that put a Merkin named "Seasick Sam" on Top Gear, of course.

Same. Their first few albums, in which they're just regurgitating blues (except for a few interesting folk -type songs here and there), bore the living shit out of me. They're very tiresome, and I have no use for them at all. In fact I actively dislike them. But then came ZOSO, in which they finally developed something not only strikingly original but astonishingly good. It just may be the best rock album ever made. And then Houses of the Holy was fucking awesome, as well as Physical Graffiti (despite a few weak numbers).
People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.

But those letters are not silent.

They're just waiting their turn.

When The Rolling Stones were in their infancy, Keith Richards would regularly listen to music on the Chess label which featured all the legends of the previous generation - Howling Wolf, Muddy Waters, B B King, Willie Dixon - and take that as his template for re inventing it. Then they went to America and returned it to it's roots so to speak. He has been called the blackest white man on the planet. Sure white man bastardised the blues by calling it rock and roll - which incidentally is a euphemism for sex - but imitation is always the sincerest form of flattery. And with the exception of Jimi Hendrix and Carlos Santana, all the true great practioners of the six string were white - Eric Clapton, Peter Green, Paul Kossoff, Rory Gallagher, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page - but none of them would deny the historical legacy of what they borrowed and where they borrowed it from.

this was the only Zep bluesy thing I could stand

I was more a John Mayall and Fleetwood Mac fan. I did not know much about the whisky and wimmin then. And my whisky and wimmin are pretty limited to start with. Married soon 30 years.

I'm pretty sure the title of that song came from one of the band mishearing "In the garden of eden" while stoned.
