Having a Tory Government again....
I can't get used to it. It's like some weird, ironic pantomime is going on inside my TV. I watch the news every few days and I see these funny men and women acting out Spitting Image scenes, but then I realise they're actually for real. I always assumed Edwina Currie had been relegated to reality TV a long time ago, but now I see her on things like Question Time and it feels completely incongruous. Plus when she talks, I just imagine her sucking off John Major. Then I see William Hague on the telly and I almost chuckle, but I'm not sure why. Suddenly I realise he's Foreign Secretary now.
I never remember the PM's name. I run through a list in my head of what it might be: Gordon Brown... no, Nick Clegg... no, John Major... no. Sometimes I remember after a bit that it's David Cameron, sometimes I don't. When I see him speak I usually think, "Fucking idiot!".
At least it'll be something funny to tell the grandchildren about.

What the fuck is wrong with William Hague anyway?
And why can't I find that excruciating video of him aged 16 at the Conservative Party conference in 1977?

Worse than the old days. The Tories have spent years festering in a corner waiting for the day, learning nothing and becoming infintely more stupid in the process. Unlike before they have no ideology, no game plan just a intense liking for power & greed.Clinton Huxley wrote:Just wait until the mass unemployment and riots kick in, it'll be just like the old days. Maybe I'm a bit confused. When William Hague talks, I imagine him sucking off John Major. Use the cover of "austerity" measures to
a) Privatise EVERYTHING
b) Punish the poor.
Ok, it's not much of an ideology...

It's staggering to think that not only was he not immediately beaten to death for being the most annoying child since Bonnie Langford, but he actually won a popularity contest and got elected. More than once.

The whole Tory machine seems like an incompetent joke, except when it seems more sinister.

As they polarise the country the Tories will ultimately be credited with the resurgence of Marxism in the UK, which I predict will emerge as a new and refreshed ideology in the next year or two.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by resurgence in this context. I can't ever imagine Marxism being a popular political choice for even a large minority of the population.Rum wrote:As they polarise the country the Tories will ultimately be credited with the resurgence of Marxism in the UK, which I predict will emerge as a new and refreshed ideology in the next year or two.

It'll have a rebrand as Social Democracy and no marxist will utter the 'M' word except to condmen it.Pappa wrote:I'm not sure exactly what you mean by resurgence in this context. Re: Having a Tory Government again....
I agree it might not be called Marxism, but people are becoming acutely aware of the inequalities that have been and are developing. The middle class in particular are becoming less rich and historically Marxist 'intellectuals' who tend to be the leaders initially are from that class. It may well be called Social Democracy or some such, but basically Marxism is about fairness and that is what a resurgent left will be about. Look at Labour at the moment. They are so terrified of moving from the 'centre ground' that they are lost and don't know where to go next.

Our struggle is not against actual corrupt individuals, but against those in power in general, against their authority, against the global order and the ideological mystification which sustains it.
