Terry Fucking Pratchett

Post by cowiz » Sat Feb 19, 2011 4:33 am

I'm currently reading "The Thieves of Time" and it's a cracker.

I've read at least 20 or more Pratchett books - he's ace!
It's a piece of piss to be cowiz, but it's not cowiz to be a piece of piss. Or something like that.

Thief of Time was, IIRC, the second Pratchett I read. It deepened my addiction, which was started with Hogfather. Ace, indeed.

I've never read any. What's a good starter one?

I think any of them might be good, except the first books in the series. I'd start somewhere in the middle and see if it was any good

I started at the beginning, reading them in order (as it turned out, it doesn't make much difference what order you read them in) and have read all the Discworld books - currently on "I Shall Wear Midnight".
They're mostly all brill. Only a few duffish ones. My fave is Hogfather.

We've got a thread about that here with loads of suggestions. It's a bit complicated but if you start at one of the ones at the beginning of a major plot link you should be ok.
[Disclaimer - if this is comes across like I think I know what I'm talking about, I want to make it clear that I don't. I'm just trying to get my thoughts down]
