A scum player would never give me their mayor vote. They'd make up any excuse not to.

Absolute fantasy. I pmed Aza at breakfast time today to ask what it meant and he was not available. PM him yourself and ask him. Then Charlou came on line so I asked the question on this thread. But this was well after you accused me of being scum for not supporting your mayor voting yourself. Accusing me of pretending not to know a rule is a low blow. It's really risky for a scum player to do that because they risk the chance of someone else (the real doc) calling them out on their lie. And the last thing a scum wants is to have that kind of attention brought on them.

The Doc is never Vanilla Tow. Vanilla literally means "not special in any way."
Yes, players can fake-claim Doc. But they do so generally when their team is against the ropes in the late-game. To do so early on, as I did, just invites a counterclaim in which (typically) neither the real Doc nor the claimed Fake-Doc survive more than another day or two. That's a good trade for Town, and a bad trade for Scum.
If you are Town, Scum is gonna have another NK regardless of whether it is you or I who die today.
The difference is that if I die, Town has no protections left and Scum will kill someone and they will win. This happens unless Charlou is actually the Vig (not SK) and Town move precedes Scum moves (debatable).
If you die, same scenario, but Town will still have a protection left. Scum may target a player I've protected.
