Everybody knows about the traditional 3D cinema, where you have glasses, and they are closing and opening at very fast frequencies.
They don't.

What's the difference between "3D" and "Stereoscopic"? Are they essentially the same result derived by different means, or are they completely different effects?

I want!!!
but not for viewing 3D stuff, I want to walk around with rapidly fluttering eyelids.
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

freaky, but kind of cool, although it clearly warrants long-term study before everyone suddenly turns into Geordi LaForge

It would be the weirdest thing, walking into a room with about a dozen people, with fluttering eyelids.
