Dragons Den idea (secular burial) - feedback wanted

Post by Santa_Claus » Sat Jan 15, 2011 3:58 pm

I've been kicking around this idea for a couple of years and although it sounds 110% impossible, I think it is acheivable - just a question of using a different scale for ambition :smoke:

So am genuinely after all / any feedback, even if that is in the form of abuse

The Great Pyramid of Santa (naming rights may be available)

Yeah, one of these:-

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Pyra ... n_theories

Except bigger :td: that took 20 years. the fella who came up with the idea for the first one must have been laughed at..........

Reason? because it's a ginourmous f#cking Pyramid that will still be around in 5000 years. Mainly :funny:

Purpose to bury people in :td: Anyone who can write a cheque. And for that you do not get a burial chamber (too easy to rob - and too expensive for most) instead once you are cremated you get mixed into a concrete block that is used to construct the Pyramid itself. Maybe with an inscribed plaque dropped into the block as part of the mix / as re-inforcement........for a Tony Robinson in 3000 years. with a Kango Hammer :D

At the moment if you want a permanent memorial you have to go religous (as they control the burial sites) otherwise it is a rose bush or something else that will dissapear within a lifetime. even the graves in Churches eventually get re-used or fall into dis-repair. Certainly no memorial has lasted longer than a Pyramid. Appreciate that not important for all. But at the moment for the Secular no real choice apart from a scattering.

Rather than have the Pyramid itself inscribed (that wears off. and costs) folk will get named online, a few websites around that already do the same thing - just need a tie up / backup the data. The data will live as long as the Pyramid as once built the data will be given to Archaelogical societies etc (and UN?!).......given folk spend a lifetime trying to work out who is buried in Egyptian Pyramids easy to see that having data on 20,000 people buried in this Pyramid would be of interest to someone in 500 or 2000 years time........on a memory stick. with photos  The key would be widespread distribution and the fact that it is part of a ginourmous Pyramid should ensure survival of your name and life story for several thousand years..........it's kinda like writing your own bible :funny:

Where? my thinking is probably Africa. or maybe some central asian republic. The idea is to get the Govt onboard to get use of the land for free (and in exchange they get a f#cking great big pyramid for free - possibly with the naming rights for the country or the President). Obviously the land needs some basic requirements, like not being on a marsh.

How? The Egyptians quarried large blocks of limestone. I need the blocks to be cast, in either concrete or liquid limestone (or similar long lasting stuff). The Blocks will be ginourmous f#ck off sized. maybe the size of a car, or a bit bigger. Size is important for anti-theft reasons (I don't want the Pyramid being stolen in 500 years to build something else with ;ob; ). And I want it too big and expensive to knock down, with the blocks having zero use for anything else. Albeit block size obviously presents a few construction / moving 'em issues - but that is for later.......................

Of course initially won't have enough punters to build a complete Pyramid :ask: (may take a while to catch on / be taken seriously?) but with the right design can simply start with a small Pyramid and expand it over time whilst still keeping the Pyramid shape :td:

Paying for it

Raising the cash will come from folk paying to have there ashes entombed in the Pyramid building blocks (dead people is already good £££ business). Maybe a few vaults for a premium. So won't be a quick process (100 year project?) - if it is a viable £££ business proposition someone else will always take it on. Initially might also try and line up some investors.......hence the Dragons Den (sold only partially on the £££ return - it really would be a Pyramid scheme :funny: - but mainly on the vanity aspect, from being a Founder of the Great Pyramid of Santa (in addition to me, of course  ).

I am also thinkng that people could entomb pets! - but not sure how others would feel about that mix?? Me is not bothered and would love to also get into the barmy pet owners market. Also although primarily as a Secular burial option, wouldn't bar the religous (it's all money $$$!!)......from what I can gather would be easy enough to find folk willing to consecrate / bless / cast a spell on the Pyramid to allow folk to self deceive themselves into hallowed ground.

If anyone wants the business plan - this is the business plan :funny: (at the moment). So am not looking for Investors..........yet :smoke:

You'll have to convince the government of choice that it'll be built quickly. Politicians will want to reap the benefits of the publicity in their own lifetimes, and preferably within a couple of years.

I understand what you are saying, but I don't think insurmountable or that time to complete is critical (apart being part of a viable building / business plan) - because just like the Egyptian Pyramids, the people who played a part in there creation are considered interesting to know of from history - Started in the reign of king blah or started under the rule of President xxxx all much the same, it's an unchangeable historical fact attached to his name (and attached to an object that will still be around in 5000 years means the fact won't be forgotten).....and the same applies to those lower down the political order, just like in the time of the Pharaohs (nowadays as much interest in who else was involved with the Pyramids as in those were buried inside). Imagine if everyone involved had been documented on a DVD they left behind! 5000 years later it would be beyond priceless
