"Machette" was funny when it was just a trailer. Making it into an actual movie just made it better.

Trucker. DSI might like it :hehe:
A story about a woman trucker who has a child as a result of a one night stand, and then abandons the father and child shortly after she gives birth. Eleven years later, the father is in very poor health and asks the woman to watch her son for a few weeks. She doesn't want any part of it at first, but of course the mother and son end up bonding over the course of the film.
Very good drama with excellent performances. Not overwrought or anything, doesn't try too hard to be a tearjerker. Still, one scene made me cry. Watch the film and guess which one and you will win a prize.

Just saw Tron 3D. It didn't get great reviews but I was in awe of it. The special effects were such fun. Maybe I am far too easily pleased but I thought it was marvellous.

Has anybody seen the documentary Pax Americana and the Weaponization of Space? I'm very interested in the subject, but the video is not at my local Blockbuster. I'm thinking of ordering it, but would like to hear a review or two.

Sounds interesting. I see no real criticisms on Wiki about it. That may not necessarily be good, though. It might just reflect that this isn't a major release.

Well, I didn't expect to see two such wonderful films in one day.

Black Cat, White Cat. A Serbian film that is really very stupendously good.

This movie reminded me of those ol' 70s exploitation flicks, the likes of which Rodriguez tried to emulate with Machete only done better. Now whether this was because the director is genuinely talented and understands the era or because he's just a complete hack is a bit harder to discern.
Personally I go with the latter. The film completely lacked any nuance. The psychology of the characters was not at any deep level making it hard to see any of them as anything more than cartoons. I grant it could've been done on purpose and with an exploitation flick like this it's probably better that you were spared any meaningful connection with the brutality of it. This is a film with no less than four gratuitous rape scenes with a fifth one implied (and shamelessly without any follow up on the person's fate). There are titties in almost every scene and quite a number of full frontals - male and female. And there is quite a bit of violent murder.
The film is about a few corrupt priests who make coke for Mexican gangsters via a group of nuns who are kept mildly drugged and walk around naked except for their veils (maybe for reasons of hygiene :dunno: ). After a nun tries take some of the barons' coke for herself causing herself to get shot along with another after the gangsters interrogate them, the priests leave another nun to them to make up for their troubles. She's then drugged and used as a prostitute but manages to be taken in by a witch doctor who works in the brothel and he brings her around. She then decides to go and kill all who sinned against God because she was commanded in a dream. She basically then goes off on a rampage.
And that's it really.
There was a couple of scenes I liked, that worked and I liked the score which had a lot of Spanish guitar but over all it is a novelty really and not worth watching unless you're an exploitation fan.

From the makers of Nude Nuns With Big Guns. This exploitation flick involves two Catholic school girls going door two door selling Bibles to raise money for the local convent. When they stumble across a murder the get beaten, raped and left for dead. One of them survives and wakes in hospital where she dons a nurses outfit and goes out on a killing spree of revenge.

Not as good as Nude Nuns, this one was made before it. The acting's dreadful and the music sounds like Spanish guitar porn music. The film is completely nihilistic and pointless. It's really for fetishists of rape revenge fantasists with a hard-on for nurses outfits. This film scrapes the barrel of bad taste.

The trailer for it is probably the best thing.

Dude. I hate to say it but after about the first 40 minutes of Nude Nuns/Big Guns, the going gets tough. As much as I appreciate tits, nuns' tits, lesbian nuns' tits, nun rape, dead and dying priests, full frontal nudity, gore, guns and drugs...still. Damn. I think my brain is shrinking. Srsly. Oww.
