The girl was home schooled. Year 9 NAPLAN tests found her numeracy skills were below the minimum standard and her writing score was too low to chart.
Way to go, Judge!
I mean, it's not like this bears any correlation at all to her LIVING IN A CULT-ENVIRONMENT.
"The fact is that far more crime and child abuse has been committed by zealots in the name of God, Jesus and Mohammed than has ever been committed in the name of Satan. Many people don't like that statement but few can argue with it."

Nice one. I'm sure that girl is going to end up in a good environment. Where no girl ever graduates from high school. Yeaaaahhh.
Goddamn dumbass judge.
Gallstones, I believe you know how to contact me. The rest of you? I could not possibly even care.

To safeguard her interests, he ordered that she attend a mainstream school, undergo protective counselling and speak to the leader, so he could say the Bible did not authorise husbands to discipline their wives physically.
So, it wasn't that stupid of a decision by the judge (I'll concede it wasn't the best)...taking into account what the girl wanted, which was to live with her father.

I'm just honestly imagining the same cult, only they think men should wear dresses, stay at home, and cook. Or just that men should wear dresses. The boy would be taken away in 0.01 seconds if him and his father showed up in court in a dress. Hell, the cult would probably be investigated for pedophilia (because everyone knows men wearing dresses is gay, and everyone knows those gays are all into children).
There's a core of the judicial system in a lot of countries (and I'm not exempting my own) that holds that it's okay to believe this garbage because a bunch of morons used to believe it and tie it to their religion. Ooh, look at me, I is Christian!

Yes, it was an idiotic decision. If the girl isn't even 'up to par' on NAPLAN which is about as dumbed down as you can make a test, she is leagues behind where she ought to be in order to even
under-achieve. Factor this in with the subjugation of her mind, and body, and you have a fart of a judge making an arse of a decision.
