Here is a video about Randi's Australian hoax he created in the 80s. He created a bogus channeler who became big in Australia by using simple means of deception, until he was revealed to be an experimental hoax.
This was, of course, before the internet, so checking up on Carlos' claims would have been pretty hard.
I think it would be a really interesting project if we attempted something like this today, although on a much smaller scale on the internet. It can be considered a success if just a few paranormal and pseudoscientific websites pick the story up. Of course, it must not be too easy to track the origin of the rumor to this forum, so we will have to disguise our ideas, perhaps by putting them on a website that is not registered with the major search engines?
It has to be something really impressive to catch the attention of the gullible, with lots of flashy graphics and nonexistent 'data', perhaps with a few elements of pseudohistory and pseudoarcheology.
Any ideas?

Give a monkey a brain and he'll swear he's the center of the universe.

Atlantean Crystals is about due for a resurgence.
"The fact is that far more crime and child abuse has been committed by zealots in the name of God, Jesus and Mohammed than has ever been committed in the name of Satan. Many people don't like that statement but few can argue with it."
